Lots of people get them automatically. I think it depends on the POE sometimes and how speedy they are at sending stuff to the USCIS.

Hmmm....well, I don't know what's up with Indiana. Or maybe it's the area we live in. I dunno....I mean he had his green card already from the USCIS.wacko.png

Regards,

Our greencard took a week or so shy of 2 months to come, it has to do with how fast the POE sends off the paperwork.

3/2/18  E-filed N-400 under 5 year rule

3/26/18 Biometrics

7/2019-12/2019 (Yes, 16- 21 months) Estimated time to interview MSP office.

Oh wow, OK. IF we chose to re-locate, I assume we need to inform them?

You need to anyhow. Anytime you move as an LPR you need to update the USCIS.

One month later, still no Green Card or SSN! GRRR!!

So my old SSN (when doing a masters/grad assistant job) works still, which is great!! Apparently, the number stays the same! However, I probably want an updated one right?

And Green card...I know Nola123 said just under 2 months, but should I start chasing, just to seem proactive?

Thanks!

I would call the USCIS with your receipt number and inquire what is going on with the green card.

Did you go to the SSA office? I had to do that as well but yes, the SSN is for life.

Green card came in the mail for me, 21 business days after POE. YMMV. What does your status say on ELIS out of curiosity? Did you already pay the $165 fee?

I had to go to the SSN office and file an application. I probably would've been waiting forever had I not gone.

SO my USCIS ELIS profile says "optimized"...dunno what exactly that means? And yes, we paid the $165 before I arrived. (and it has been deducted from the bank.)

Not 100% certain what "optimized" means, but my status went from "optimized" to "closed" in a couple of days, then got my GC a few days after it went to "closed". I would guess you will be getting you GC soon also.

Agreed. Mine took about a week at optimized. But the green card arrived 3 days after it went to closed!
