Is your marriage legal within India and does the Indian government have a record of the marriage?

You should be able to request what is commonly called a long form marriage certificate from the India government. You may need to get a translation of the form because the embassy only really accepts English.

If you got married in India then you have to get your marriage registered with the Municipality and get the certificate. ( You have to ask them to give it in English).

But this is not enough, you will need to show photos and most importantly the photos where other people are also present - to show that your's was a public wedding and they question the 'intimate wedding ceremony'.

If you dont have above then you must be having other pictures like pics with family, friends, travels etc. Also take joint bank account proof and joint insurance certificate.

Thanks

Marriage certificate will prove that you are married to her and it was registered with local registrar in India and it can be used to prove that you are married.

But for immigration purposes, you on-going relations with her proves that you are in touch with her (phones call, IM chats, emails, your gifts/greetings-card to her and her to you,

Your pictures with her, her family, your family together proves that both of your family has accepted the marriage and welcome each other to their families.

Your pictures for visiting outside of family environment proves that you 2 want to send time together.

If she is not working or still studing... your financial help "receipt should be attached during Embassy document submission" to her proves that you are supporting her.... (it can be simple $100-$200 per month over the course of her time in India) "remember that on-going over course of time"

Your visit to her proves that you are serious about this realtionship (your passport stamp of entry/exit in India, your borading pass)

Good Luck with your imiigration journey

Evidence of legal marriage and evidence of bona fide marriage relationship are two separate issues. Deal with them separately.

Facts are cheap...knowing how to use them is precious...
