Request regarding the "Political Cartoon and Graphic" thread.

This is a request, feel free to disregard.

I enjoy the Political Cartoon and Graphic thread very much and would like to see a new guideline put in place, which will INCREASE the quality of material posted there thereby increasing everyone's enjoyment of these hallowed Forums.

I suggest that the 'graphic' portion of all material posted in that thread be required to be non-photographic in origin unless the poster him/herself took that photograph.

In other words, a photograph of John Boehner with some snarky text about being a crybaby should not be allowed. A cartoon of John Boehner, drawn by a cartoonist or by a VJ poster, with the same text should be.

Any moron can put a caption to a photograph taken by someone else. Cartoonists/artists (whether professional or amateur) put in a lot of work to create true works of political art. I'd rather see more of those.

Why don't you make your own thread for real cartoons only? It seems like whoever starts the thread can make the rules.

I agree a photo with a caption is not a cartoon, and I think the only comment I ever made in one of those threads was to that effect.

I'd be supportive of critical comments which take the form of political art. No text. The rest of the forum is for text.

And if you can't find a cartoon online that sums up your beliefs, fire up MS Paint (or whatever) and draw one yourself. Let's get creative!
