I understand many different reasons why people might want an AR-15 or even more extreme levels of firepower. A few are rather benign. Many are more than a little frightening. I hope most people who have chosen to own them have done so for the former and not the latter. But I question if the benefit to society of the former is great enough to outweigh the enormous risk caused by the latter, even though it is a distinct minority of owners in that category.

and the problem with the libs is they just don't understand firearms. Assault looking weapons are used in such a low percentage of gun crime, and other than looking a certain way are no more or less lethal than many other type of weapons.

That is why things like background checks get so much push back. we know the ultimate goal is to ban weapons. It always starts with wanting to ban assault style weapons and magazines with a certain capacity, etc etc which is absurd.

If every assault weapon in America was melted down tomorrow it would not make any noticeable difference in the gun crime rate. Yet the loony left continues to push for it. It is the loony left that keeps shutting down any hope of a meaningful gun debate, because they always open with complete insanity.
