Actually California is selectively disarming people who they believe shouldn't have guns. BATFE has (in writing), declared that anyone who possesses a medical marijuana card is prohibited from owning firearms or ammuntion by Federal law.

We have a quarter of the population of India but more than 3 times the gun homicides (9,960 vs 3,093). Germany is about a quarter of the population of the US yet has only 1.5% of the gun homicides (158 vs. 9,960). It's a big problem. It really is.

11,000 is just not a large enough number to warrant curbing individual liberties. It doesn't matter what the numbers are anywhere else.

common misconception.

but for real, the batf is a joke. here's their mission statement - for a laugh:

Our Mission

ATF is a unique law enforcement agency in the United State Department of Justice that protects our communities from violent criminals, criminal organizations, the illegal use and trafficking of firearms, the illegal use and storage of explosives, acts of arson and bombings, acts of terrorism, and the illegal diversion of alcohol and tobacco products. We partner with communities, industries, law enforcement, and public safety agencies to safeguard the public we serve through information sharing, training, research and use of technology.

And that is the problem. Folks pick and choose the laws/decisons they like.

they are criminals. they are an imperative portion of the prison population. we gotta keep this baby full now, cha ching.

if we can't lock em up for smoking a plant, we'll lock em up for owning a gun.

Why participate in a sham that applies only to a portion of the firearm purchases anyways? It's like installing red light cameras while making license plates optional. You're free not to put a license plate on your car and you can hence run all the red lights you want without ever being subect to the enforcement the red light camera is alledegly providing. And then you're going to compalin that some cities don't put up the cameras in the first place? Grand piece of logict there. laughing.gif

I didn't think Child Molesters could carry firearms.

It depends on the local state laws which determine under what type of transgression child molesting falls.

Having said that, I am surprised the NRA is not defending the right of inmates to carry weapons while incarcerated.

I find it funny that you state the above regarding the Federal fight and quote me on Colorado....get real.

Universal background checks are necessarily federal. If background checks don't apply on the other side of a state line, then they're not universal. The NRA is on record opposing universal background checks. The NRA is also on record opposing comprehensive background checks at the state level. You know that, of course, but like to pretend that it isn't so.

Especially when the numbers continue to drop.

7 out of 10 homicides are committed with firearms. That number isn't dropping at all.

That doesn't apply to a sovereign citizen. And they can obviously buy any firearm they want at any gun show around here or over the internet. The NRA wants these people to have guns. They love and support criminals. They have and will continue to fight for the right of the criminal and the mentally incapacitated to be armed to their teeth. It's what that organization is all about.

Again make as many list as you want of ppl who cannot carry weapon.

Print them in big print, publish them in bold not a problem.

Govt does not need a list of law abiding citizen who owns a firearm.

You mean the gun nuts?

Dude u can have 10,000 laws but if there are not enforced they dont mean a #######.

There are few thousand attempt to purchase a weapon by someone who is not supposed to be having one.

Dealer stopped the sale (the existing background check works) and reported them to Feds only fraction of them were ever prosecuted.

Why not prosecute 100% of these folks first.
