Vermont Service Center - What's going on!

What is going on with Vermont? I mean, they've had a 5 month processing time advertised on their website for 2 months now, and not once have they been processing at 5 months. It is completely unrealistic. They are barely processing 6 months now, and according to Igor's list they've not even done 50% of October applications yet and it's almost May. In May they should be working on November to keep at 6 months. At this rate, they're going to slip into the 7-9 months timeframe unless they do some serious speeding up. CSC is way past VSC at this point in a matter of weeks, while the CSC mad approvals began at the same time VSC slowed down. Coincidence? I doubt it. They still have half of October, all of November, December to get through before they even touch January and CSC has already gotten through a decent chunk of those months alredy.

With VSC days away from slipping into the 7 month timeframe, I wonder why are people not kicking off like CSC filers did when they were at 7 months? In February all we heard was about the being stuck on July 18th, whereas now VSC are at such a snail's pace that any November through January filer will be lucky to get their NOA2 within 7-9 months if they don't sort themselves out.

Yes, I voiced my opinion but was told to stop bickering and talk to a Congressman. It was a strange comment to me as when CSC slowed down, their were at least a dozen threads complaining about it. LOL You are dead on in the numbers though....the backlog is growing for VSC. :(

It is very frustrating not knowing what to plan when to plan or even if to plan... That said, yes I agree with you that VSC has slowed compared to its pace a few weeks ago, but coupled with the lightning pace csc is moving at it does appear as though VSC has stopped. I know I was very frustrated to see csc nearly catch up to VSC in a week of hard work. Another thing I was told is that counting begins with 0 or another way to phrase it they have until the very end of 5 months to process a petition for it to still be counted within that timeframe. One would think with the next uscis procesing time update vsc will be listed as over 5 months. This process is quite trying for the less patient of us... So I guess for now what we can do is rant that or everyone start contacting their elected officials it seems like csc took note of it.

I think we are saying that even if we ignore CSC numbers, at the current VSC rate, it is at a 9 month wait time. You cant approve around 15 a week for the VJ petitions at VSC and expect to get to December any time soon...it will be August before December filers get approved at the current VSC approval rate...the numbers show this as fact.

I don't know what is really going on with the service centers. Maybe it is just the frenzy approval rate at CSC that makes vsc look bad?

When i first filed, CSC was processing at 3/4 months and then slowed down big time after the DACA event. they came to an almost complete stop and only a few lucky were getting approvals or RFEs, especially those who had a congressman or senator doing a good job for them. If you VSC folks are feeling the same thing we felt a few month ago don't hesitate to raise hell like many CSC filers did on here after months of almost no activity. Try to see if you can contact your representatives, write to the CIS ombudsman or the service center director.

I have good reason that this is the actions of everyone coming together at csc to complain that made it so today almost all of july/august/september filers who had an extra wait have had their approvals. Make vsc feel the pressure like we did and at some point it will work.

As for myself i started to worry when i hit the 5 months wait, i contacted all my representatives to make several inquiries on my behalf. If everyone does the same, things can get moving. I had my NOA2 on 04/24 after an 8 months wait while when i filed i should have waited 4 months or less....

Good luck and don't give up folks.

I have a really really bad feeling that VSC are going to enter into a comatose state similar to CSC. Your right its no coincedence VSC slows down as CSC speeds up. cray5ol.gif

For those who have been waiting since August and September no words can describe how ridiculous that is!

I'm glad everyone else feels the same. The pace they are processing at the moment is absolutely ridiculous. I fully encourage anyone who is beyond the 5 month processing time to start contacting their elected officials. As soon as we hit June 17th (5 months from our NOA1), we will be contacting our congressman, Senator, and putting in a service request. If we get nothing back, we'll be contacting the Ombudsman. We have the letters from the Senator and congressman in our area just waiting to be signed and sent off when it hits the 5 month mark.

Yes,

I have a appointment with my Congressman, I get "5 mins" of his time in May. I expect lip service, but at least I am doing something to rattle some cages. I also feel it's productive to share thoughts on here and figure out if anyone finds anything even close to legroom in moving the process forward. I am tired of the "call your congressman, call your senator" I have done this, anymore ideas while VSC keeps digging a deeper hole and CSC moves back to 3-4 month approvals?

I think it helps to allow the VSC people to vent on here just as the CSC people did for months...

What's happening at Vermont is exactly what I've been afraid of over the past 2 months. I knew at some point CSC would speed up again just like Vermont did some months ago. and for some odd reason whenever one service center speeds up the other one moves even slower. I feel beyond blessed and happy we received our NOA2 three weeks ago and things are starting to move much faster. I still check on y'all every day to see how the processing centers are doing....I really wish you all good luck and many many approvals! After all tomorrow is MONDAYYYY ;-) yay! :)

Good luck Vermont and those at CSC who are still waiting!

Threads like this are both worrying and really helpful for me. My UK citizen fiance and I are getting married in 5 weeks, and after months of lurking around VJ, I'm finally assembling documentation and getting ready to file for a CR-1. I live in Boston, so Vermont woes are on my horizon. It's distressing to see that the process is slowing down, but it's great to have my expectations set -- both for duration and for what actions I should take at which points. The 5 month trigger mentioned by QueenOfBlades is something I'll definitely be keeping in mind. Wishing you all the very best of luck, and I'll be looking for ways to help light a fire under VSC!
