The Role of Religion in the U.S. Presidential Election

If I had any say in this, I would have a few simple rules in place:

1) Any presidential candidate who mentions his or another candidate's religion is immediately disqualified from the race.

2) Any media outlet that mentions a presidential candidate's religion is henceforth barred from reporting on the presidential race and elections.

3) Any presidential candidate who claims to be a "Christian" and believes the the Earth is only 6,000 years old is immediately disqualified from running for President or VP.

It would be were it not for the SCOTUS. Meanwhile, it is just about unavailable in a number of states. For religious reasons.

Article VI, paragraph 3

no religious test shall ever be required as a qualification to any office or public trust under the United States.

well whatever, we need government and religion completely separate. that concept isn't working out too well under the current approach.

anyway, before i see a non christian president i'd probably see a non democratic or republican president. we can't even get that to happen..
