I understand with so many cases being processed, things get lost and it's good to check for your own peace of mind, but I feel like reading some people talking about calling offices ''every day'', makes me feel like unless I'm calling then my case will go more slowly. Obviously it's not a matter of who calls more, I'm exaggerating of course, but seriously why is everyone calling so much!?

What are some people's experiences, in what case have you called, how often, whyy!!

You might be talking about calling the NVC offices. After NOA2, the next step for fiancé visas is the NVC where total process for fiancé visas is only 1 day, then they are forwarded to the country where the visa portion of the process takes place. In some countries, having the visa case number, assigned at the NVC, allows you to start processing immediately without waiting for 1) the documents to arrive in that foreign country, 2) that country to sort out the information received, c) the embassy to send out letters and d) possibly having the letter delivered from the embassy. Calling the NVC offices daily until your petition is processed and the case number assigned allows you to streamline and possibly takes weeks or even months out of the process.

I guess that's one answer. And it wouldn't work for all visa types or necessarily for all countries, but it absolutely works for others. Again, this is the NVC stage, not the CSC/VSC stage.

The OP is going through a CR1 process not k1.

However as IR1/CR1 we call the NVC to find out updates and information ahead of the time it would take for them to inform us by mail or email. As per the USCIS stage, many people want to know exactly where their case is and what is happening. It's a stage where you have zero control and really don't know what is going on. So most people want to know obviously, this is important to them. And yes the government is in general a disorganized mess. Lol.

haha ok I got you. Right I didn't know about that one step taking one day, that's good to know. I'm surprised they're so open to people calling to see what's happening with their cases. These offices must have specific people designated just to speak to frantic people!

I think they should have a time line like when you order pizza online and you can watch the green card worm along the stages. ... just an idea. :D
