Hi, I need to make a timeline.

They cashed my check on the 9th then a few hours later I was text messaged and emailed. They said that my stuff is being processed to Vermont.

What exactly goes on between the time they tell me this NOA1 to the next step NOA2?? Is there a longer or shorter period of waiting with the petition going to Vermont?

What is the deciding factor that mine is going to Vermont as opposed to any other processing place?

The deciding factor is the state in which the petitioner is living in.

Vermont is processing aroud 5 months. Between NOA1 and NOA2 all you can do is wait and get yourself familiarised with the forms that your fiance will need for the interview.

Where you filed from decides where the petition is forwarded to be worked by.

They are doing background checks on you the US citizen plus it just sits there to be worked due to volume of cases. Currently, VSC is processing faster than CSC. Go to the uscis website and then go to processing times and select VSC and you will see their current times for different petitions.

Cr-1 (spouse) probably 5 months and processed at a local office

K-1 (fiance) could be a year at CSC and probably less at VSC

From NOA1 to NOA2 it probably wont be a year, thats usually NOA1 to Visa in hand.

NOA1 to NOA2 is around 7 months average

A year! Really??!! I thought about 2 months after NOA2 was about average or normal. Or I was hoping it was anyway. It has only been a month for me and I am already going crazy from being apart from m beloved.

Youd be very unlucky to be waiting a year but it depends on your consulate, not long ago London were waiting two months just to schedule an interview date

I am in the same situation but mine is going to California. You can always call them to figure it out. I told my fiance to call and they said it should take between 3 and 4 months but if I look at the official processing time it says 7.5 months! I think they make the number bigger as they don't know for sure how many cases are before yours. We just need to wait...
