I am applying for K-1 visa for my fiancee. I filed on Aug 22, 2012 and finally received the NOA 2 from Vermont on March 5, 2013. Woohoo!! I called NVC 2 weeks ago and found out that everything has been mailed to the American institute in Taiwan on March 15, 2013. I haven't heard anything since (neither did she).

Now I'm assuming AIT will mail package 3 to my fiancee soon. In this package there will be instruction on filing out forms such as i-230, i-156, etc, and where to get the medical examination. We have started on all of the required forms, getting a police report, etc.

Several questions from this point:

1) Regarding scheduling interview, does package 3 come with a pre-set interview date, or will she need to first mail the required documents back to AIT then they will give us an interview date?

2) Can she get a medical exam first, even before receiving package 3? If so, where can she can the medical exam done?

3) Just curious to all Taiwan filers, how long did it take for you from receiving NOA2 to having visa in hand?

Thanks so much!! :D

Congrats. If she lives in taipei she can go 馬偕, and after she send in the package 3 they will then send you the interview date. We got NOA2 at Dec 4 2012, then got my package 3 Dec 24, send in all the forms the next day, got interview date from AIT at Jan 4, interview date was on Jan 17, Visa in hand Jan 22. All depends on how fast you send in the forms back to them, and yes you can go do medical before package 3. Wish you the best luck.

uhm, DoS Hotline knows all about status of casefile, please call them , often.

When you hear 'packet 3 sent' as a status, then she should get busy.

You get casefile number from NVC? It's needed for the medical exam - so if you have the casefile # from NVC (use a telephone, call, get) then can go forth with medical exam.

as an aside - Taiwan is now part of the VWP - has yer lass taken advantage of that, yet?

So it's been awhile and I still haven't received the package 3 yet. According to DoS, "the decision to mail package 3" has been made on 3/22/2013.

Maybe I'm being anxious, but would it be possible to send them the required forms before receiving the actual package 3. And just to get this right, I whould mail the DS-230 Part I, I-156, I-156k, and check list, with my case# included. What is check list anyway?

Thanks again!

i have a p3 shortcut for Guangzhou, up at

GUZ P3 shortcut - http://www.visajourney.com/wiki/index.php/GUZ_P3_Shortcut

I am unsure if it will work for Taiwan, but there's been some reports of it working for other IV Units, other US Consulates.

To me, it seems, the trick is to get the master form, fill it out, sign it, and ship all back as soon as there's news at the DoS Hotline concerning the P3.

So study the AIT webportal, see what forms are there for P3 and P4.
