No need to add anything, your spouse will be linked to you fast enough through a smorgasbord of interrelated databases. Credit history will follow.

I have access to some of these databases, and maybe a day after I got my wife a copy of my credit card. Her credit history showed that she has a history as long as mine.

You do have to do something. Adding her to yours as a co-owner will help (if they let you with her zero credit score)), or look into getting her a secured credit card to build history.

Hmm, odd. My husband had no history until he got his first card about 3 years after he arrived. I guess because we don't have the same last names and there is no record of our marriage in the US (besides with USCIS).

No, no SSN. OK , like this....

My wife was here on overstay 2002-2008

Sometime in 2008 (before we got married) I added my wife as authorized user on my credit cards, she didn't have an SSN. And she did not have any legal status in the US.

Immediately Lexis Nexis has her data in their databases.

As soon as my wife received an SSN (2009), and without me providing her SSN to any credit card companies, she started having her own credit history with her oldest history going back 20 years (based on my history and her possession of that card).

hmmm ok - well my wife has like 4 credit cards as an authorized user of my accounts. i just want the same thign to have her credit be established as mine and not start from scratch ! thats what i heard some people say is to add her newly ssn to my accounts ( as owner? or authorized user) and she will get my history. so i figured i'll ask around here.

i already received some letters from current creditors asking for hers, but i told them she doesn'et have one yet as we are still waiting for the EAD and then SSN. so since i have her SSN now i want to add it to her current cards ( as an authorized user) and hope she'll get my history.

She'll get it. I dont know if she is yet in the major credit bureaus. But rest to sure she's already in Lexis Nexis. You can check equifax for her.

and she'll inherit your credit history also.
