Hello I am very confused,

my green card indicates that the expiry date is 05/02/13 now that tells me that it will expire feb 5th now I was confused by I-90 and I-751 as they both look familiar so I called the 1-800 number to get support and was led to I-90 to find out it was not the right one. I will most likely not see my money again. I still went to the biometrics appointment as I was instructed to do so. The officer told me to file after my expiration date so I have 90 days until may. It does not make sense to me as I read that it has to be done prior to the expiration date.

Any thoughts?

The earliest you can file for ROC is 90 days before the 2nd anniversary of the date of you being a residend.

Even if they'd received your papers ONE DAY earlier than this 90-day window, you'd get them back.
