Okay, per the OP, burglars target homes where guns are registered. When this story with the gun registration map first broke, I remember reading about how this makes all the residences that didn't show up on the map as registered with a gun a prime target for criminals. And yet, they target a home where a gun was registered. I thought having a gun at home makes your home safer? Are we now saying it does not? Can you guys try and make up your mind about this? Seems to change by the minute.

Did you find your answer?

So burglars do know from gun registration records whether or not there's a gun in the house? Yes? No? Maybe?

He did figure it out.. See give a man a fish etc etc... Really I knew all along he knew, but was trying to fool us.. I hope your as proud of him as I am.. Figured out by himself. Did not use profanity in his response or call anyone a nut, idiot, etc..

See positive things can happen here.

Not to that question. They would know to which residence a gun is registered. They would not know whether that gun is actually in the home or whether the owner has it with him or her outside the home. They would also not know whether there is a gun in a home where none is registered. They could be or there could not be.

Either way, a gun in the home seems to have failed as a deterrent. In fact, it may have motivated the crime perpetrated on that home. How is that supporting the stance that a gun in the home makes the home safer? Right, it does not. Carry on.

So if nobody is home ... you're asking if guns locked in a safe makes the home safer?

At any time. Seems that in this case, the guns in the home may have triggered the crime against that home. That's an assumption that is in no way proven. Burglars went for the safe - well, duh. How do you know the burglars actually knew there were weapons in the house and that those weapons were in that safe? How do you know whether or not the burglars knew whether anyone was home or whether or not they cared? Right, you don't know either.

The burghers went for the house on a list. If there is a safe in the house, well a safe can be a little difficult to hide.

A safe in the house ...well it kinda screams valuables. And what is a thief after?

Doesn't prove the list had anything to do with the burghers (?) targeting that house. But if it did it means that guns are an invitation rather than a deterrent to crime!

Or the burglars, oblivious to the list, happened to break into a home on the list. There is no actual link to the list, just speculation.
