We also know that having guns around prevents becoming a victim of gun crimes. Just didn't work for this fella.

If he'd lived in Vermont he'd have been safe.

No necessarily. Despite there being virtually no population in that state, there have been at least 3 gun deaths in Vermont since mid-December - in a state like Vermont, that might amount to losing a Congressional district. It's not like gun deaths don't happen in Vermont despite what Gary likes to make people believe. Theoretically, they shouldn't happen there since it literally takes you like a week to find the nearest resident in that state. Probably a bit longer in the winter. But somehow it seems people make significant efforts to get in a human kill from time to time. What's the point of having all these guns if you can't snuff out some life every now and then, right? I mean, that's what guns are for. It's why they exist.

I've been to Vermont a few times. I did come across one or two people but they were probably visitors like me. I didn't feel like it was in any way unsafe but now that I know that EVERYONE carries a gun I'll avoid it from now on. It's just not worth the risk. I can get my maple syrup in Maine and my cheese in New Hampshire. There's no other reason to go there!

And unlike Alaska, no grisly bears.

Depends on what part of Illinois you are talking about, I am guessing these stats are from the non-hood, non-trailer parts of the states. Where Scott AFB resides(somewhere between O'Fallon and Belleville) it's pretty quiet and safe.

Toughest gun laws in the nation: Washington DC - where semiautos are banned

Murder rate in DC: 17.5

Liberal logic: Banning semiautos makes you safer

<sigh> Another day of "fun with numbers" with the libs

2011 data - the last available. It's on the FBI.gov website

Vermont murder rate: 1.3

Texas murder rate: 4.4

California murder rate: 4.8

Conclusion: California is safer than Vermont

Liberal logic?

California is safer than Vermont!
