ooooo so make no sense for ppl that are legal to fill out the i-601a ? yes or no

No, it is not for those who are here legally. There are some other waiver items included in it, I think. But for the most part it is only applicable to assist those who are in the US and have overstayed.

I would certainly like to see the solid evidence that the new waiver cases are being processed ahead of legal immigration cases. Other than someone believing that waiver cases are getting approved before their own, where is the evidence of this?

I don't believe they would get approved in a different ORDER. However, there are resources that will now have to be used to process the new waiver applications that may have previously been directed elsewhere. So it may very well f up timing on other applications. OR perhaps they hired more people.

There's no sense worrying about this because it is what it is. Each of us has our own journey to get through and there are so many variables at play no matter what our situation.

I totally agree. In many cases it seems like being forwarded to a local office sped up a case because there were more resources available at the local office than at the service center. I think the standard process is being slightly impacted overall by the waiver applications for the simple reason that there's a learning curve at the USCIS as they get trained and equipped to handle the new process. New processes are implemented all the time, though, and it makes no more sense to whine about this one than any other one.

I don't believe the waiver cases are getting approved before legal immigration in general. But it could happen for a few cases (not too few) since it's not an uncommon thing that later ones get approved earlier. And it's not a good thing that USCIS will have heavier work load in March. No one can guarantee they will not switch some people from approving I-130 to deal with the many waiver applications.

You're right about the possibility. But I prefer not to gripe and complain about a possibility until I have some evidence that reality corresponds to my guesses. Less anxiety and stress that way since my guesses are usually pretty disastrous. :)

Most people view this as criminals being rewarded for breaking immigration laws, enforced or not. I feel it was done for purely political gain, and most illegal are living with their fiancees or families during this process since they broke the law by entering without inspection or by overstaying their visas. So do not expect sympathy from those whose loved ones are thousands of miles away during the process. These people have to spend thousands of dollars and endless hours just trying to maintain a long distance relationship. If you want or expect sympathy or joy here is a link where you can find both.

Oh and one last thing... Our spouses are living here inside the US paying taxes with the tax ID numbers they asked for from the IRS, most have been in the US about 5 yrs & a lot of them closer or more than 10 yrs--- all while paying taxes and contributing to the economy by renting owning homes owning cars, running business so YES I DO think they are entitled to having an opportunity to get in the back of the line just like you all as well. It's not our fault most ppl jumped into starting their processes before waiting to see if the system could be simplified or cases cleared out first. We will be waiting it out at least 4-6 months + as well but At least our spouses are here contributing instead of sitting outside the country waiting and not contributing. Our 7-10k of money spent to do this is just as valid as your money and time spent. I'm done now and I won't be coming back on this post so you all can continue griping amongst yourselves.

The only people mentioned in this thread that are ungrateful are the illegals that come into the country and abuse the system while reaping all of the benefits. It's hard to be compassionate towards people who knowingly break the law and then whine and complain, expecting the government to give them handouts. Immigrate legally, or deal with the deportation consequences. Welcome to life.

Was that 7-10k earned while working illegally?

I sure hope not.

My husband contributes, yah know, by legally working in his home country.

I have absolutely zero sympathy especially with how you are lashing out. There have been members of my British family that have waited 20+years to LEGALLY immigrate to the US and that were unable to get tourist visas because of overstayers and people who do things illegally.

I come from a family of immigrants, I am an immigrant in Denmark, and I'm married to a soon to be immigrant so don't think for a second that I don't get the PITA that immigration is. Regardless, it should be done the legal and proper way.

Ungrateful?

Zero sympathy.

Illegal = crime. As much as people beat around it, immigration is pretty black and white. If it's illegal - it should be punished. It's not very difficult. There are unfortunate cases of families being separated - but THAT, should really be thought of before doing anything ILLEGAL, as it is a known consequence.

I will be happy for those who did everything they could to be with their loved ones the right way, the legal way. Not everyone gets granted the same opportunities in life. I won't sit around feeling sorry for those who didn't get a certain opportunity, like no one sits around feeling sorry for me.

This is immigration and LAWS - not a Lifetime movie.

OH - and I'm mexican with mexican parents and a mexican husband. I state this because everyone knows it mostly benefits people from Mexico as it is our neighboring country. My parents did things the right way, I did things the right way. Good for them and good for me.

The very best of luck to anyone still waiting for their loved ones who are GOING THROUGH THE PROPER PROCESSING.

Agree with you!!!!! I'm doing a legal process and it has been 214 days waiting for an answer. My husband is in Mexico waiting, we have two boys and we are missing him like hell. His brothers and sisters in law are living in San Diego with tourist visas. It's that fair???

I salute you for doing it the legal way.
