No, don't be silly.

the other half of the room were either working stiffs or EBT collectors ... they couldn't afford those new gadgets.

on second thought ... the EBT people could ....

Last time i was there (2009), I remember looking around with envy at all the people playing with their ereaders and smartphones. I remember thinking I need to get me one of those.

they aren't very expensive ... that's why you didn't have one ...

[quote name=^_^' timestamp='1357666289' post='5909800]In all the talk today of the size of government, one memory from both occasions stands out. In the big room where everyone sits and waits, someone from the court asks all public employees to come up front. I forget why, I want to say it had something to do with payroll or giving them all a letter.

But the memory is of nearly half the room standing up when the call came. Both times. Both times, half the room worked for some level of government.

So all my usual liberal bloviating notwithstanding, I will today - just this one time - concede that the RWNs have a point about the size of government.

I wonder what proportion of the people waiting in the big room will stand up next week. I'll let you know.

What do you think would happen if they had everyone whose paycheck comes directly or indirectly from the government move to the front of the room? You know, if they would include those that do the government's work after it has been outsourced? You'd be really scared then. The "front of the room" would be all but the last couple of rows...

You could take it a step further and include employees of businesses that count government agencies or government employees as their clients.

That could be... everybody.

I have jury duty next week. This is the third time in about eight years. The first time I ended up seeing an entire trial (2-3 days iirc). The second time I got excused after voir dire.

Significantly less than half this time! Maybe a quarter or less. Christie's had quite an impact.

And not just on his chair.
