I would like to start off by saying Hello :) as I have been reading topics on VJ but just signed up today. I am a US Citizen and would like to start filing papers for my husband but one of the questions on the I-130 asked if you have ever been married before and if you filed for that person. They want to know the date, etc. The problem is this was about 16 years ago and I honestly don't have those answers. Getting information from my ex- is not so easy. Do you think that I could attach a letter to explain that I don't know the exact date. Just to give some background, I know that INS may look at that as fishy but we were married for ten years and have two adult children, however sometimes I can't remember what I did yesterday let alone 16-17 years ago.

Thanks for any feedback.. Bless

Well considering you have to submit the divorce decree that should be good. But the letter yes always attach explanation so you don't get a RFE (Request for Evidence).

Oh and Welcome to VJ.
