Yeah! Because they don't need the social skills they learn from actually interacting with other students. Also, the US already has an epidemic of obesity, kids sitting at home on the "internets" is a great way to solve this issue as well.

Kids don't interact as it is. Everybody is engrossed in their smartphones and iphones when they should be socializing IRL, instead of texting or updating their status on Facebook.

Why not just eliminate the schools all together? The internets can teach our children all they need to know.

True, but then you take away ANY remaining chance for a child to socialize or interact with others "IRL" and they will become a shut in. The majority of our children now are already poor communicators and have no social skills. Texting, chat sites and social media has a huge role in this. I mean, look at us, our entertainment is stemming from posting on an immigration forum. Do WE have a problem as well??

Believe it or not, there actually is a REAL world out there. As crappy as it may be at times, it's nice to go out and smell some fresh air! Besides, if you REALLY want to keep in touch with your VJ buddies, you can use your smartphone. Vj does have a mobile site!

I don't have smart phone, it's 12 degrees outside, there isn't anyone in this town I want to hang out with for longer than 15 min., the wife is in Egegik (eskimo village) until Friday due to work. and ND is getting pounded atm by Bama 21 - 0 on the tube.

In between posts here, I managed to finish calculating our tax liabilities for 2012, now that the wife's W-2 was made available online this morning, and both the state and the feds have put enough forms and instructions online to almost file the more complicated stuff, but not quite -- all the rules for last year have not been turned into enough forms and instructions to complete the task. But we will get a small check from the feds, and have to write an even smaller check to the state, so my work is done for now, and I don't have to send an estimated tax payment to the feds or the state this month, I am good until mid-April. I am free to do more menial tasks, like go to the dump and service the truck in between outcalls.

I am old, my wife is at work, and it is dark outside. In between posts here, I managed to finish calculating our tax liabilities for 2012, now that the wife's W-2 was made available online this morning, and both the state and the feds have put enough forms and instructions online to almost file the more complicated stuff, but not quite -- all the rules for last year have not be turned into enough forms and instructions to complete the task. But we will get a small check from the feds, and have to write an even smaller check to the state, so my work is done for now, and I don't have to send an estimated tax payment to the feds or the state this month, I am good until mid-April.
