SSN Denial (asking for help)

My Husband applied for a SSN with a vaild I-94 he came here on a K-1 visa. We just got a letter from the SSA on Saturday 1/5/13 that states that he was denied as US Dept of Homeland Security was not able to verify him. The letter said we can call to have the cas reviewed. He called today and they said that they had terminiated his application and he would have to come down again to re-apply. His I-94 expires today 1/7/13.

Now we noticed when doing the AOS paperwork that whoever wrote his A# on the I-94 wrote the wrong number and perhaps that is the reason why he was denied a SSN.

Do you think that we can contact SSA again by phone or in person to try and get the card even though the I-94 expires today however when he applied for it initially it was valid and perhaps an error was made because of the wrong number?

Any help or advice would be apprectiated.

Thanks!

The instructions for repairing the error in the I94 are below

https://help.cbp.gov/app/answers/detail/a_id/818/~/i-94--what-to-do-if-your-i-94-is-lost,-has-incorrect-information,-or-was-not

If your I-94 was not stamped with a departure date or was filled out incorrectly, you may go to a local CBP Deferred Inspection Site (DIS) or port to have it corrected. Many offices have limited hours for administrative work, so call ahead to make sure there will be someone available to help you.

If the Form I-94 was issued by USCIS (at a local USCIS office or from a USCIS Service Center) and it has an error, you should go to a USCIS local office and request a new Form I-94. If the officer at the local office is not convinced that the Form I-94 was issued in error, the officer may advise you to file a Form I-102, Application for Replacement/Initial Nonimmigrant Arrival Departure Document.

Unfortunately you may need to marry in a state that does not require SS number since the I94 is already expired but you will need an accurate I94, I believe, to file AOS or there may be a problem adjusting status.

Best of luck.
