What does this have to do with Al Gore? I've heard Al Gore talk about global warming, but I don't recall anything about localized weather phenomena.

There is no place for weather deniers here. When it gets warm, it's climate change, oh my! But when things appear to cool off over a decade or two, it's just local weather, nothing to see, move along.

So are we extrapolating this data to say the global mean temperature decreased or are we talking about Alaska. If we're talking about Alaska, there's no reason to bring up Al Gores name.

Rather, adult animals tend to kill other adults', especially mothers', young, for the main purpose of furthering their own bloodline, regardless of the overall effect on their species' survival.

Which is not for fun or the joy of torturing, like I said. Animals treat each other better than people do. They act on instinct but you don't see them capturing other animals and torturing them for days/weeks/years. Or killing as many as possible for FUN.

People suck, man. Animals are at least predictable.

China chills hit 28-year low, trapping ships in ice

SHANGHAI Jan 5 (Reuters) - Temperatures in China have plunged to their lowest in almost three decades, cold enough to freeze coastal waters and trap 1,000 ships in ice, official media said at the weekend.

Since late November the country has shivered at an average of minus 3.8 degrees Celsius, 1.3 degrees colder than the previous average, and the chilliest in 28 years, state news agency Xinhua said on Saturday, citing the China Meteorological Administration.

Bitter cold has even frozen the sea in Laizhou Bay on the coast of Shandong province in the east, stranding nearly 1,000 ships, the China Daily newspaper reported.

Really? Funny that. Iv'e seen seals and sea lions torture/play with Rat Fish until they finally got bored and finished off the kil. Iv'e seen Orca slow kill Beluga Whale before they finally killed it, Iv'e seen male Sea otter kidnap baby otter from the mother until the mother gave up her food. I can go on and on and on.

Torturing bottom fish is a regular habit for seals. They don't even eat the rat fish. They get bored, bring them up from the bottom until the fishes eyeballs pop out from the pressure change and then they toss them up in the air over and over and over until the fish either stops moving or they get bored.

As far as the male otters stealing the babies from the female otter...it has zero to do with survival and all to go with being larger and lazy. They do it because they know they can. When the female doesn't give up her food they kill the baby by holding it under the water until it drowns.

Iv's seen Alaska Brown bear use Parker squireles for a soccer ball and when it finally stopped moving they bit the head off and walked off leaving the head next to the body. Kind of like when the eagles around here get bored and kill ravens just to be killing something. They don't eat the ravens but they sure like killing them now and then.
