No but it's easy to get and you can get it in a week or two at the most if you go apply for it yourself at a local office.

####### how can I work and study here without it

1. you have an stamp in your passport that validates your VISA , is used now as a 1 year temporary greencard, I-551 document.

2. get into SSA office about 14 days after yer POE date, and follow these instructions: http://www.visajourney.com/forums/topic/405546-ssn-howto/

That's the answer to yer '#######' . F' On, Comrade !

Are you sure that will work anywhere in the U.S. I mean in any American company or school

Hello everyone,

Actually, I've been in America for nine days and haven't received my green card yet.

How much would it take me to get it?

Thanks

Apologies, I misread your question. For now, squirrel away about 1100 usd. Don't spend it yet, just put it aside.

Not always this fast, after my husband arrived we applied for his SS# after 2 weeks, his SS card came 6 weeks AFTER that. He was never entered into the system after POE mad.gif
