my MIL got here nov 15. i saw that many others got thier green cards within a few weeks after entering the US. so question is - am i supposed to register her or take some other steps to get her greencard? we havent gotten it in the mail, its been nearly 7 weeks now. so i find it odd that others got thiers within weeks and we are going on 7.

and for the social security card, do we have to apply for that?

thanks

sam

She must have been told by the officer how long the wait is right now to get the physical green card when she entered.

The time varies a little based on the time and how much load they have normally it is anywhere from 6-9 weeks to get a card, some ppl do get it before that as well.

no she doesnt know if they said anything about the wait time. i tried calling uscis today - but i couldnt figure out how to get the info. its all prompts (do you want this, that...). none of the prompts were info on greencard process time.

how do i get a phone number for a local cis office?
