Hello everyone!

I am new here and i hope you guys could help me and my fiancé. We wanted to start filing for fiancé visa but i am a noob and i do not know anything about how to start. I am in california and he is in the philippines. I saw a website rapidvisa.com but i am kinda skeptical with it since i automatically think that those sites are a scam. I was wondering if anyone in here is goin through the same thing and walk me through? Also, will it be easier if we apply for a fiancé visa or a working visa?

Thank you so much.

Best regards,

Michelle

Hey Michelle,

I understand your concerns. I know there is a lot of info here that will direct you on how to apply. I personally am using an attorney to handle my paperwork and they have been awesome so far. I do recommend you check them out. Or you can just follow the tips and guidelines here to assist you. This law firm has payment plans and are not expensive. Fianceeimmigrationlawyer.com

The attorney is Joel Turney. Good luck..

I used Rapid and was very happy with the job they did and their support, if you called you got a live person and got the question answered-- it is not a scam. However after being on this site and knowing what I know now, I could have saved 300.00 and did it myself. At first it all seems a bit intimidating, but if you take the time and read the guides here and the embassy website, it is not difficult. There are many people here that have completed the process and are always willing to answer a question. I am sure there are good attorneys out there but there are many horror stories told on this site of attorneys making mistakes and the delay time it adds dealing with an attorney. Good luck!!

Hi and welcome Michelle! :)

I understand your concerns. Everything was a bit overwhelming at first but like what Phil & Alla said, its something you can do on your own. My fiancee and I are doing it without a lawyer and I have a lot of friends that opted to do it on their own. It's actually a personal choice. Oh and people in here are really really helpful and someone, somewhere here knows what you are really going through.

if the purpose of the trip is to get married and migrate - fiance visa.

good luck with the journey!

Hello griffy, phil & alla,

Thank you for your replies. Well the thing is i just started working and i am self employed. I have read that they will be requiring banks statements and pay checks from my employer. Will he be denied since i dont have much money in the bank? Also, im just 24 and he's 25. Will it affect the process since we're a bit young? He has been applying for jobs in socal and there are employers that are willing to hire him but then they do not support working visa so since we're engaged already, we figured we could just mary here in US.

Getting a lawayer just makes things complicated, plus it is costly based on the experiences I read on VJ. My fiance and I and just filed by ourselves. We didn't get any RFE and we were approved. All you have to do is to follow the instructions and read the tips here in VJ. I had my interview last October 19, 2012. There was a K1 applicant whose some documents were missing because their lawyer didn't inform them to gather those documents like CENOMAR and NBI.

I've heard that working visa's are very difficult to get. My fiance and I filed our own application. This website is very helpful with examples of everything, plus you can get your questions answered really quick. Good Luck

I Looooooove my baby Lyn.

Me and my fiancee used rapidvisa. paid 300+$.. well, ACTUALLY, THEY ARE NOT HELPFUL AT ALL. they are not scam. They only let us answer some questions on their web, and then the 129-F package is generated, WHICH IS BTW you can do all yourself with the help of VJ members here who are really angels :innocent:

My interview is on the 26.. and we regret that we listened to rapidvisa about the 100% poverty guideline use in Manila consulate. The rapidvisa keep on insisting us that we will be fine with my fiancee;s income which is only 100% poverty guideline.

I suggest keep reading post here instead of paying the rapidvisa.

You'll only need to show liquid asset if you don't meet the 125% poverty guideline and if you're using it as proof of support for the applicant.
