I-130 & Legal Name Change

I filed an I-130 for my husband and since filing it, I have legally changed my last name to match his. This means that my new legal last name is different from my maiden name that I used when I submitted the I-130. Does anyone know if there is anything I need to do as far as notifying USCIS of my legal name change? My passport expired on 9/30/12, so I now have a new passport with my new last name, also new drivers license and of course social security card.

9/15/2012 We got married!

9/21/2012 Stamp on passport expired

9/28/2012 Mailed I-130 & I-485 packets to Chicago Lock box via USPS Priority

10/2/2012 Received Date

10/4/2012 Notice Date

10/9/2012 Received text & email notifications for NOA (4 forms)

10/12/2012 Received hard copies of NOAs (all 4 forms- I-130, I-485, I-131, I-765)

10/15/2012 Received NOA with Biometrics Appointment

10/30/2012 Completed Biometrics (completed on date assigned)

12/11/2012 EAD & AP Approved

12/20/2012 EAD/AP Combo Card Arrived

2/6/2013 Notification for Interview

3/15/2013 Interview- APPROVED!!!! :)

I posted this on the the AOS forum but thought I would try here as well...

I filed an I-130 for my husband and since filing I have legally changed my last name to match his. So obviously my new legal last name is different from the one on the I-130. I have a new passport, drivers license and social security card. Does anyone know if there is anything I need to do as far as contacting USCIS to notify them of this change? I don't want there to be any discrepancies or problems while they process my application. Thanks for your advice!

No, you don't need to do anything. Your marriage certificate is in their records, so they have what they need.

Thanks for the response. I actually called USCIS to find out for sure and I was told that I don't need to do anything and to bring all current documentation with to the interview.

you should have just used your married name on the application in the first place, because the I-130 has nothing to do with Social Security.

I don't think you really need to worry though. As long as you have your marriage certificate showing the name change, you shouldn't have an issue.

Removal of Conditions
07/22/2014 - 11/14/2014: 116 Days from Application Received to GC Received.
Naturalization
02/03/2016 - 05/31/2016 : 119 Days from Application Received to Oath Ceremony.

Me: Irish/ Swiss citizen, and now naturalised US citizen. Husband: USC; twin babies born Feb 08 in Ireland and a daughter in Feb 2010 in Arkansas who are all joint Irish/ USC. Did DCF (IR1) in 6 weeks via the Dublin, Ireland embassy and now living in Arkansas.
