I am a born US citizen and currently live in Dubai on a resident visa. My fiance is here in Dubai as well but I want to have our wedding in the USA by September I hope. The plan is to go to the USA for a week right before the wedding and the both of us to head back to Dubai. I do plan on going back to the USA in another 2 years with him but for now we will stay in Dubai. Will this be an issue? Also, his parents and brother lives in India and I need to make sure they can attend the wedding. Will this be possible? Any feedback would help. Thanks!

Hi,

I think you can marry him at anytime, and anywhere as long as he is not intending to stay in USA right after the marriage takes place, but im not quite sure. Maybe someone esle can give you a better answer.

How do you plan to get him to the USA for the wedding? Ie does he have a tourist visa, do you plan on applying for a fiance visa (you posted in the fiance visa forum), or what?

Ain't gonna happen. He has to file for a visitor's visa.....but who will he be visiting? You? You don't live here.

Get married in Dubai and then immigrate with a DCF visa when the time comes. Dubai is closer to India also, so having it there is a slam dunk.

You can feely travel back and forth to the good US since you are a citizen....non-citizens can not.

They are not going to make him stay, but the K1 fiance visa is to immigrate and live in the USA- it's rather expensive and long process just to have a wedding in the USA, and you as the petitioner would need to prove you intent to move and remain in the USA before or at the same time as he uses his K1, which sounds like it would be difficult for you to do.

He can't leave the US without AP or GC and for too long as it's considered abandonment of his permanent residency status.

Good luck!
