I'm going to be honest I am super bad at being patient and after 5 months and 3 weeks we got a Request for Evidence they posted this yesterday through the USCIS website and I'm freaking out. I called the 1-800 number and they couldn't tell me anything. I just don't understand what more evidence do they need we have a three year old son together we have been married for 4 years what can they possibly need that they just couldn't approve him??? And will it take another 5 almost 6 months to get approved or denied?

Hey,

I'm applying for a K1 visa so our circumstances are different, however, I flipped out because we received an RFE and I had sent absolutely EVERYTHING I could think of by way of evidence in. In the end, all they wanted was a letter from us both stating that we would get married within 90 days of entering the country, and a new pasport photo for the petitioner. It may be something this simple. I have read of people receiving an RFE for forgetting to sign a section etc. The point I'm trying to make is that it might necessarily be evidence that they are requesting. Once we sent all our paperwork in, it took them a week to approve it.

Dont take it as a bad thing, think of it as a positive that they are finally processing your case!

Good luck!
