Just got NOA1 by mail a couple days ago (living abroad so it takes a while to arrive) and now just trying to figure out how I know where the case is. Does the fact that the number begins with WAC mean anything? If I'm abroad, how do I know which office has jurisdiction over the case?

WAC is for California service center

I have an MSC number also and it doesn't work either. I thought maybe it is too soon and hadn't been entered in the system yet.

Sooo... not that we should count our chickens before they hatch but, I saw over in the "I-130 August filers" forum that there was a poster there that was transferred to NBC and received their approval in 54 days. Hopefully this is a good sign for us all. keeping my fingers crossed.

Just read in another forum where they had called NBC and were told that it can take up to 45 days for our status to show up on check status button.

Even though the last month updated is August(so we don't know yet what it's like after they get the Sept-Oct filers volume), but just to get a general idea about field offices...when you go to National Processing Volumes and Trends(on the case status page) you can pick a field office, and it shows you the cases pending and the completions. If you do an average of the completions say in last few months, you could sort of guess how long it would take to do your case. For example, my wife is a Wisconsinite(although right now we're both living abroad - but no one knows if it gets sent to the field office in the place of residency even if you currently do not reside there or where else it goes), so in the Milwaukee Field Office it shows currently 325 cases pending. Completions average like around say 80....that means about 4 months. Again, it's very vague, but it's at least something.
