Hello VJ Forum,

Just when I thought that everything was on track, I get this weird case update! So yesterday we had our AOS interview and was approved on the spot. The IO did not give us anything but said that we were approved and should receive a conditional Green Card in 3 weeks. A couple hours later our I485 case was updated online and it said 'Card/Document Production.' Cool right? Last time it went into this status was with our EAD and it was sent to us in a week!

So I get these two texts that my I130 and I485 case numbers have been updated. My I130 case was in 'Initial Review' the entire time and now it was updated to 'Post Decision Activity' and states:

'On September 27, 2012, we mailed you a notice that we have approved this I130 IMMIGRANT PETITION FOR RELATIVE, FIANCE(E), OR ORPHAN. Please follow any instructions on the notice.'

Now when I look at my I485 case, it was moved from 'Card/Document Production' back to 'Decision' and states:

'On September 27, 2012, we mailed you a notice that we had registered this customer's new permanent resident status. Please follow any instructions on the notice. Your new permanent resident card should be mailed within 60 days following this registration or after you complete any ADIT processing referred to in the welcome notice, whichever is later.'

So now here comes my ummmmmmmm question, does the approval of the I130 change our I485 from AOS to PR? I am really starting to freak out. I know, I should wait for the letter before asking but this is starting to freak me out and I'm wondering if this happened to anyone else and what the process was.

Your insight into this is greatly appreciated!

Thank you,

Natalie

Completely normal. Happened to everyone. Your I-485 status will change again to "card production".

btw. GC =PR. PR=GC, you know that right?

If, at the time of approval, you had been married for less than two years, then you will receive a conditional two green card that you will have to remove conditions from in the normal way.

If, at the time of approval, you had been married for at least two years then you will receive a full, unconditional ten year green card.

The I-130 is will be approved, it doesn't matter if it stays in initial review or not. The most important thing is the form I-485 and that was approved. They will approve the I-130 and mail the approval notice eventually but at this point it doesn't matter. The I-485 is gonna go back to Card Production, then you will get an email when its mailed

Just relax and wait for your GC in the mail. You should get it by next week...:)

I am not sure I understand your question.

A Green card is for permanent resident no matter is conditional or not. It has nothing to do with the "permanent" word.

If you guys still under 2 years marriage, He will get an conditional one.

i am so sorry ha i got too excited and didn't see the last part 'GC = PR, PR = GC' but i finally understand now!

sorry i was confused because on the case page it says 'your current case status for for I485, application to register permanent residence OR adjust status' so i assumed that they were two separate situations, not the same.

thank you so much for the clarification!
