hey, was just thinking about you guys and how much stress you must be under. was trying to ponder what might be a good idea to make it less terrible. my totally unsolicited advice is to think about perhaps that chile is actually a pretty cool place to live (although maybe you are sick of it by now!! also understandable!!) and take advantage of some of the long weekends coming up to enjoy things you can only do in chile. maybe take a trip to the south or something, have a curanto, or go to the beach, or go up to the mountains, drink as much pisco sour and carmenere as you can, etc... i mean it's just springtime here now and in the US it's getting colder, so maybe you can take some opportunities now to enjoy what might be your last month or so living here!

...also, idk if you guys have a nana, not sure how chilenized you've gotten acerca de este tema, but i am totally relishing the fact that i can afford to have someone else clean my apt once a week while it's still possible. totally can't afford it in the US. have some moral qualms about it, but, while in rome...

suerte, besos

thanks for the kind words!! me and my husband plan on living it up while we are here....justo we are going to puerto montt next weekend and various other trips while we are waiting to take advantage of our querido chilito..and i totally agree with your when in rome....

in other news, between last night when i read this and today when i had the time to reply, we had our apt broken into and 3 of our windows smashed out....while we were home  I´m not saying there isnt delincuencia in the US, but this is one of the reasons I want to get outof dodge...my hometown has an extremely low crime rate and i´d like to walk downtown w/o being worried about fleites mugging me....

but, now I have the opportunity to learn about how to install glass, so there´s a silver lining, right? saludos chicas!

Oh no!! How horrible. Yes there is a lot of crime here. Our apartment was broken into a few weeks ago, but not while we were home. That must have been terrifying, so sorry to hear about that. :( Can't be helpful when you're trying to see the bright side of Chile, either.

On the other hand, puerto montt is fantastic!! We dream of moving to Puerto Varas or frutillar someday (long in the future, when all immigration stuff is behind us and we can just GO WHERE WE WANT!! haha)

fuerza!!

Congratulations, si man! :)

06-04-2007 = TSC stamps postal return-receipt for I-129f.

06-11-2007 = NOA1 date (unknown to me).

07-20-2007 = Phoned Immigration Officer; got WAC#; where's NOA1?

09-25-2007 = Touch (first-ever).

09-28-2007 = NOA1, 23 days after their 45-day promise to send it (grrrr).

10-20 & 11-14-2007 = Phoned ImmOffs; "still pending."

12-11-2007 = 180 days; file is "between workstations, may be early Jan."; touches 12/11 & 12/12.

12-18-2007 = Call; file is with Division 9 ofcr. (bckgrnd check); e-prompt to shake it; touch.

12-19-2007 = NOA2 by e-mail & web, dated 12-18-07 (187 days; 201 per VJ); in mail 12/24/07.

01-09-2008 = File from USCIS to NVC, 1-4-08; NVC creates file, 1/15/08; to consulate 1/16/08.

01-23-2008 = Consulate gets file; outdated Packet 4 mailed to fiancee 1/27/08; rec'd 3/3/08.

04-29-2008 = Fiancee's 4-min. consular interview, 8:30 a.m.; much evidence brought but not allowed to be presented (consul: "More proof! Second interview! Bring your fiance!").

05-05-2008 = Infuriating $12 call to non-English-speaking consulate appointment-setter.

05-06-2008 = Better $12 call to English-speaker; "joint" interview date 6/30/08 (my selection).

06-30-2008 = Stokes Interrogations w/Ecuadorian (not USC); "wait 2 weeks; we'll mail her."

07-2008 = Daily calls to DOS: "currently processing"; 8/05 = Phoned consulate, got Section Chief; wrote him.

08-07-08 = E-mail from consulate, promising to issue visa "as soon as we get her passport" (on 8/12, per DHL).

08-27-08 = Phoned consulate (they "couldn't find" our file); visa DHL'd 8/28; in hand 9/1; through POE on 10/9 with NO hassles(!).
