Bring Wedding Dress from Philippines to US

What is the best way to bring a wedding dress to the US without getting it crushed or soiled? Will using a shipping carrier work? Should she take it as a carry on on the plane as a hand item? If so how should she pack it and meet the Delta travel criteria? Any ideas will be appreciated.

I want to wear Filipiniana wedding dress. I had the big luggage bag where I put my dress and my husband's barong. I used cardboard to protect it from wrinkles and getting ruined. I got it here just fine.

Have her carry it in her hand and ask the flight attendants to put it in the closet at the front of the aircraft (by first class). They're usually okay with doing that.

Good tip - I will have her protect it with cardboard box that they pack it in at the wedding store.

We did same because Anne got a beautiful dress there for a fraction of cost and she used one carry on for it or hand carry it. Dont want that to get "lost"! I only wished I would have got a Barong while I was there. A little hard to find in Chicago suburbs. There is a store in Chicago and online that specializes in them but a little costly.

My wife just neatly put in a garment bag and put it on her luggage along with my Barong Tagalog. Came out just fine..

Thanks for the tip. Was it counted as a carry on? Did they charge extra?

Having a wrinkly wedding dress is the least of my concern. :whistle: Switching countries, leaving a great job, leaving my family and assimilating was more of a pressing matter. :lol:

I had my wedding dress made to order from the Philippines. I just had to wrap it with a plastic or garment bag and put it in a luggage bag. When i came here my dress looks still the same. I had it as my checked in luggage and not carry on.
