Form i-130, They Want What?

Hi,

Soon I will be standing on Chinese soil, pavement, hot tar, grass, or something to that effect.

Trying to get the CR-1 forms done for my Fiancee to sign while I am there.

On Form i-130, it asks for a Naturalization Certificate Number (if naturalized, which I was). There are two numbers that could be the lucky winners; I see:

No. A70... OR

Application No. A19...

Any idea which one they are looking for?

Actually, I think I made a mistake. Under the section that says, "My citizenship was acquired through (check one): Naturalization. Give certificate number and date and place of issuance", it says:

"Parents. Have you obtained a certificate of citizenship in your own name? Yes. No. Give certificate number, date and place of issuance."

I do have a Certificate of Citizenship in my name with my picture on it.

1) Do I still leave the "My citizenship was acquired through (check one): Naturalization" checked?

2) Or should I only check the "Parents. Yes." checkbox and uncheck that other one?

Still not sure of which of the two numbers they want either way.

Don't want this to cost me months of delay or worse.

Any help will be very much appreciated.

You mention a fiance and your profile says K1 (fiance visa), but post about the I=-130 in the CR-1 spousal visa forum... I am confused?

The number you want stars with A..., it's not the Application No. As to the other question, how did you naturalise? Ie did you go through a ceremony, was one of your parents a ciyizen and your visa was converted to citizenship when you entered the country...?

if your take the Citizen by yourself, then check the box NATURALIZATION... the number you are looking for it the registration #: here is what it should look like on your form... A043000001-05/19/97-Saint Albans, Vermont

OP had filed an I-129F on behalf of the same person but that route did not work out for them, so they will now be going down the spousal visa path.

OP, as I suggested to you in the other thread, please update your "filed for" information from K1 to CR-1 so people A) do not get confused to what you are seeking and B) can give you accurate information.

Thanks for your reply. Just updated my profile. CR-1 spousal visa, nothing filed yet. Marriage in China pending Panda bear showing up.

Both numbers start with an "A". One of the "A's" is in red text, the other is in black text. I assume it is the one in red text? If it is not the Application No., then that leaves only one lucky winning number, great. Thanks. Screenshot attached.

How did I naturalize? I have no idea, I was four years old. If I did go through a ceremony I have no idea I did so. Both my parents were non-U.S. citizens that came to America and became U.S. citizens then got me to convert at some point.

Thanks for the info.

I was four years old at the time so I doubt I took the citizenship by myself, my parents had something to do with it I think.

Attached is a screenshot showing how I filled out the Naturalization section on the Form i-130; someone please let me know if I completed this correctly or if I just set myself up for months of frustration and upset.

In the screenshot I did not type the Certificate Number, but of course I will type that in later on.

Look at your certificate. If it says Certificate of Naturalization, check naturalization. If it says Certificate Of Citizenship, check parents.

Thanks for the clarification; I did not have the dashes in there, so I added them.

But my number is only 7 characters long, where I see your number is 10 characters long. Is that possible, or did I use the wrong number?

I only have a "Certificate of Citizenship" as far as I know.

I just assumed that I might have had both. I thought I might've gotten a 'Certificate of Naturalization' first and then got the 'Certificate of Citizenship'. But I don't think that's the case now.

The only certificate I have in my possession is a "Certificate of Citizenship". If I also have a 'Certificate of Naturalization' then my parents have it somewhere. But again, I doubt I have one. I need to remember to ask my parents before I leave for China.
