Hi all,

Can someone please explain me the step by step process about the new changes that are going to take place from 26th Sep. The website is too confusing for me to understand. I know that earlier we had to get the medical done after the interview date was assigned and then give the needed documents and medical reports to VFS before few working days.

What does the new process looks liks, can someone help me to understand in lay man's language?

1) You will go for Medical as usual

2) You will pay courier fees etc at Axis Bank or Citibank Branches

3) No need to submit any documents in advance

4) Login to http://www.ustraveldocs.com/in/index.html and provide location where you will be picking up your passport after visa is issued, they have list of Blue Dart locations, you can pick one near your home

4) reach Mumbai Consulate 30 minutes prior to interview and deposit any documentation you need to submit

5) apppear for interview

6) Go home happy

7) pick up your passport from location you provided (you will get text message) (which is going to be near you residence (blue dart location)

One more, now there is no need to Carry X-Rays to consulate for interview

Hi Kpatel!

I know the site is a bit overwhelming!

I found that you need to start at this location: http://www.ustraveld...entdelivery.asp

That's where you register for delivery of your passport and visa.

Other than when you give your documents (now on the day of your Interview and be sure to arrive 30 minutes earlier to give those documents to a onsite VFS Agent) the process remains the same. Get your meds done up front after receiving your Interview Date packet.

Hope this helps!

Mandy

MandyBear,

Thank you for your review http://www.visajourn...php?entry=10518. I have some queries from your experience. I soooo want to be there with my hubby when he goes for the interview but I cannot :( so I want him to be very well informed that he should have everything go super smooth.

  1. So during the initial security check did the officers check your packet? How did they find out about the photographs needing to be taken again?
  2. My understanding is that we only get our medical ready after recieving the interview packet4 and rest everything happens on the day of the interview, right?
  3. Did you get medical done in mumbai? how long did it take to get the report in hand?
  4. At the interview counter the officer fires questions and the candidate answers with supporting documents being produced, so did you again provide DS230 papers or was your husband asked to sign on the DS230 sent to NVC during filing process?
  5. At what point did you submit your passport for visa? Did the interviewer take it with her or after interview did you submit it at the VFS counter 9?
  6. In short, there is no solid interview packet that you have, all documnets gets pulled out at each stage on the interview date and eventually some originals and most of these papers come back with us, right?
  7. So are you waiting for your visa to be picked up from your registered center, at the moment?

Please excuse me for all this detailed questioning. Only answer them when time allows. I understand there is so much for you to do now. Thanks a bunch in advance!
