Waiting and waiting and waiting. Finally I found out how to speak to a person at USCIS. Call the 800-375-5283 number and then during the recorded message press 12624 quickly and you go straight to a human.

From what I was told by the human at USCIS there is a lag in VISA's available for immigration. I asked what that means and she said that there are only so many visas issued each year for immigration and that is why Vermont has slowed down.

So my response was " does that mean that her visa will not be issued until next year"? The human from USCIS said "NO". So now I'm confused as to how our country can be out of visas but it won't keep her from getting one. Perhaps this is also the formula for the National Debt.

The person you spoke to was dead wrong. There is no annual visa cap for immediate relatives (and K-1 visas).

That's exactly how I took it. Nothing she said added up. When I pressed for explanations I got double talk that countered what she said in the first place.

They receive files, they process files, they send them on to the embassies and consulates.
