hi guys, this is so surprising and at the same time, kinda depressing....

we filed our petition last march 5, and so we expect some kind of result before august 5 or september 5...we recieved our NOA1 by march 7 and my fiance has called the USCIS california office a couple of times....to ask for expedition (though we are fine even if it wasn't allowed) and to ask for the updates on our application. (they said it was still being processed and even on the USCIS site it says : INITIAL REVIEW)

now, what shocked us was yesterday, an adjudicator called my fiance and said that they needed her military ID because they haven't started our petition yet...this is so infuriating...we waited for almost 6 months and now they are telling us they forgot to start our petition after sending us a NOA1 way back in march???

so do we have to wait another 6 months? sad day for us.. :(

No thats actually good news because it means finally your case is being looked at. Its like cases getting an RFE after 6, 7, 8 months once they send in what is asked they get approved. So get that ID in. Watch what happens.

but with military ID, your casae is supposed to be expedided. One VJ member got NOA 2 in two weeks after he sent his military ID. Maybe the military ID wasn't asked for at the beginning...that was a long time to wait.

Having a military ID does not automatically qualify for an expedite. Military can be expedited if they are deploying to a war zone, then other information - not just an ID is required.

I think they are assuming that a NOA1 means they are looking at and "starting" your petition. Yes??

100% TRUE. Hey Beck, I too have K1 at CSC and sent I-129f mid March 2012, It has been 6 months for us too. I did include my Military ID (color photo copy) with original submission. So having the Military ID did NOT make mine any faster either. I called USCIS and asked for "Beyond normal processing time" Service request on 20 Aug 2012, they tell me to now wait 15 more days. How I wish my Adjudicator would call me :) Remember GOD answers all prayer in 3 ways. Yes, No, Maybe later... God Bless and use this time to strengthen your relationship.

forgot to start our petition

can you explain more about this one bit, please?

that's it in a nutshell basically...we had been informed that they haven't opened our petition yet eventhough we got our NOA1 way back in march this year...hope it will be fast this time around as others say...thank you so much for your replies.

yes. that's it exactly...we had been told everytime we call them it is "being processed" but as it turns out, they haven't even opened it yet...

and can we request for expedition? my fiance isn't getting deployed yet...if we can get expedition just with the military job alone then that would be great.

Mr Pangga :)

my fiance also called about going beyond the processing time and we are told to wait until 20 working days (so we should receive something before september 5) but just the other day we were told by the adjudicator himself that our petition hasn't been opened yet and he is asking for my fiance's military ID though it is not stated in the requirements for the petition...(we got no problem though if they ask for it, the only problem is they made us wait too long and asked for the ID just now) :(

Unfortunately you cant compare your case to another case… every case is different… just because one person got okayed in 2 weeks doesn’t mean it wont take you 2 months or 6 or 8 months…. When you least expect it, it will come just sit back and breath is what our lawyer told us =)

hhhmmm wow really they call your fiance? kinda odd for me :bonk:

That is a standard answer. They check it at first (NOA1) for basic content (check, forms, etc...) then it waits until it is looked at again about 6-8 months later. During that entire time, it is "being processed".

Unfortunately, your petition is right on track as of lately.

Check with military hotline for answers regarding that....

"I know that you believe you understand what you think I said, but I'm not sure you realize that what you heard is not what I meant."

right on track? so its just normal for them to ask for an ID or something all of a sudden? should we consider it as an RFE then?..im kinda confused, sorry and thanks for your reply.
