Hello Everybody

My husband (USC sponsor) is 4000 short for required income for household of 2 (19,000). so I want to add my income to household income. (total: 28,000)

I have been working on F1/OPT, teaching at the university, where they give 1 contract per academic year. I got my contract for this year (starting this week), and I can start working with current EAD but it expires in 40 days, probably before I get the new EAD.

question 1- Q: Do I need a joint-sponsor?

situation A. If USCIS doesn't send EAD sometime soon, the university might cancel my contract for this semester. In that case we wouldn't reach the required anymore.

or, ok let's say University doesn't cancel,

situation B. I start teaching on current EAD. I give to university my case status. It expires. University replaces temporarily until EAD is processed. But during that time, I am not working. So at that moment we are not reaching required income.

situation C, I start teaching on current EAD. I give to university my case status. It expires. University doesn't realize it, I keep teaching. until interview.

If they see that I am still working on an expired EAD. They refuse my green card?

question 2- university contracts are for 9 months, with 3 months without working, then 9 months again (until May 2013).

- Can this be considered as "income will to continue from current source after obtaining permanent residence"?

- or does it have to be a non time limited contract?

thanks!

I would suggest adding your income to the USC's I-864 as well as lining up a joint sponsor and having that info/documentation at the interview. That way you are covered however the interviewing officer sees things.

Sponsor income counts if it is legal and will continue once GC received (ie permanent job offer).
