Traveling After Case Complete But Before Interview Scheduled

I am wondering if anyone has any experiences or knowledge of a spouse traveling to the US after their case has been completed at the NVC but not yet received an interview date? My wife has traveled to the US several times under the VWP with out any problems. Even twice during the NVC stage (although I was traveling with her on those occasions). After calling the NVC today they said our interview wouldn't likely be until October. Understandably, my wife would like to come visit me for a month during September. At the moment she is staying with family and friends and only working casually, so her ties home wouldn't be all that strong. However, she is still paying for health insurance, cell phone and would obviously have a return ticket. There is also the chance that she would have her interview schedule by the time she reaches the POE for her visit.

I'm fairly confident she should be alright getting in, but any insight would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!
