This is a good thought -- thanks. In this instance, it's probably not feasible. However, great minds work alike -- I'd already planned to tell him that hundreds (zillions?) of family-based petitioners will appreciate answers. Definitely stay tuned here.

You can tell him/her that but chances are s/he will not believe you, for you are only one and you can only speak for yourself.

In the least, you could post his/her name, phone and e-mail address, and more importantly the contact information of his/her immigration liaison, to whom you are speaking, so that others in your area can also direct their comments to them.

Remember that this is an election year, so I would definitely post the venue and time of the function which you are attending so others can participate. If your congressman is worth anything he/she will welcome the additional participants. After all, is that not the reason s/he is holding a public office?

Look how easy it is to get a fee waiver! My goodness, they will all be eligible!

The fee to request consideration of deferred action for childhood arrivals is $465 and cannot be waived.

Fee exemptions are available in very limited circumstances. In order to be considered for a fee exemption you must submit a letter and supporting documentation demonstrating that you meet one of the following conditions:

  • You are under 18 years of age, homeless, in foster care, or under 18 years of age and otherwise lacking any parental or other familial support and your income is less than 150% of the U.S. poverty level,
  • You cannot care for yourself because you suffer from a serious chronic disability and your income is less than 150% of the U.S. poverty level, or
  • You, at the time of the request, accumulated $25,000 or more in debt in the past 12 months as the result of unreimbursed medical expenses for yourself or an immediate family member and your income is less than 150% of the U.S. poverty level.

A request for a fee exemption must be filed and favorably adjudicated before you file a request for consideration of deferred action for childhood arrivals without a fee. If you submit Forms I-821D, I-765 and I-765WS to a USCIS Lockbox facility without a fee and there is no record a fee exemption request has been approved, both forms will be rejected and returned to you.

Respectfully stated, you know neither him nor me.

This isn't really the way it works. Congressmen represent their own constituents. Neither they nor their staff typically appreciate being contacted from outside, and in fact many of their websites are constructed to filter messages in this way.

Your logic, at least in great general, isn't wrong; however, it's not that type of function. Trust me, please, si man.

06-04-2007 = TSC stamps postal return-receipt for I-129f.

06-11-2007 = NOA1 date (unknown to me).

07-20-2007 = Phoned Immigration Officer; got WAC#; where's NOA1?

09-25-2007 = Touch (first-ever).

09-28-2007 = NOA1, 23 days after their 45-day promise to send it (grrrr).

10-20 & 11-14-2007 = Phoned ImmOffs; "still pending."

12-11-2007 = 180 days; file is "between workstations, may be early Jan."; touches 12/11 & 12/12.

12-18-2007 = Call; file is with Division 9 ofcr. (bckgrnd check); e-prompt to shake it; touch.

12-19-2007 = NOA2 by e-mail & web, dated 12-18-07 (187 days; 201 per VJ); in mail 12/24/07.

01-09-2008 = File from USCIS to NVC, 1-4-08; NVC creates file, 1/15/08; to consulate 1/16/08.

01-23-2008 = Consulate gets file; outdated Packet 4 mailed to fiancee 1/27/08; rec'd 3/3/08.

04-29-2008 = Fiancee's 4-min. consular interview, 8:30 a.m.; much evidence brought but not allowed to be presented (consul: "More proof! Second interview! Bring your fiance!").

05-05-2008 = Infuriating $12 call to non-English-speaking consulate appointment-setter.

05-06-2008 = Better $12 call to English-speaker; "joint" interview date 6/30/08 (my selection).

06-30-2008 = Stokes Interrogations w/Ecuadorian (not USC); "wait 2 weeks; we'll mail her."

07-2008 = Daily calls to DOS: "currently processing"; 8/05 = Phoned consulate, got Section Chief; wrote him.

08-07-08 = E-mail from consulate, promising to issue visa "as soon as we get her passport" (on 8/12, per DHL).

08-27-08 = Phoned consulate (they "couldn't find" our file); visa DHL'd 8/28; in hand 9/1; through POE on 10/9 with NO hassles(!).

I agree and that is the reason it would help you and others if his name were made known. His is a public office and as such he works for the American people, so you really should consider disclosing his information and let him decide whether to heed the call of other people. In addition, there may be others in your area, whom he represents that might benefit from the information.

The reason I recommend you do that is so that others who share your interest in this matter can contact their reps as well and refer them to yours. There is strength and numbers.

As you say, he represents his constituents, so even if you say there are others like you, he won't be interested for he can only represent you. If other reps were to contact him it would give your cause, and that of others, more weight.

I am just trying to help...
