The problem I have with these voter ID laws is that they fail to address the areas where voter fraud predominently occurs - absentee voting and fraud perpetrated by poll workers. That is where there might be an issue and none of the voter ID laws address any of it. They didn't even try. Why? Well, because this isn't about the integrity of the voting process. It never has been. They didn't even attempt to make it appear as if it was about the intergity of the voting process. How could you even begin to talk about the intergrity of the voting process in a country where gerrymandering is rampant? And much like gerrymandering, this is about fixing elections. That's all it is and that's all it ever has been.

How can you argue it's an infringement of rights in one breath and argue the law does not go far enough to address absentee voter fraud in the next breath. Your arguing both sides of the law trying to justify one.

And take them off the SSA and Medicare rolls as well. Hell, revoke their citizenship, it's not like they are real Americans anymore.

Revoking citizenship is a bit much, but only a few countries have absentee voting laws.

I figure all the H1B workers here that pay SSA and Medicare taxes would make up for it. They don't have any rights to those benefits unless they become a citizen, which most of the ones I have met never do. And I've met ALOT. They complain about having to pay SSA and Medicare.

I'm not arguing that. I'm saying that these laws are passed under the false pretense that they will fight voter fraud (which they do not). These voter ID laws are designed to achieve nothing but fix elections.

Just so much horse feathers. You absolutely do need a picture Id and background check to buy a gun LEGALLY!

in many states, you do not. in many states you can buy a gun directly from another private owner without any kind of background check, and the sale is legal, provided that you are not a "prohibited person". if, however, you are a prohibited person and you buy a gun then you have generally committed a felony by making the purchase, and another felony by taking possession.
