The government takes *my* money, gives it to "some women, children and old people", and I'm the one getting a handout according to you?

Incredible.

You use no roads? Or when you need to get somewhere cut and build and maintain your own? Your income depends on nothing created or generated by government? Highly doubtful.

:secret: Roads are paid for from separate accounts funded by user taxes. The more you drive, the more fuel you consume, or the more you weigh, the more you pay.

That's not exactly true.

There are state and local gas taxes that do fund roads, but counties and cities often build roads with property taxes. There is likely some infrastructure spending that comes out of the general fund at both the state and federal level.

I doubt it. Usually it is the other was around. Transportation trust funds are raided to make up for shortages in general funds, or other accounts. Why do you think libs get so upset when voters try to restrict road taxes to road projects, not bike lanes or mass transportation or hiking trails or parks or visitor centers or general slush funds. For instance, the Golden Gate Bridge has been paid for by tolls sevenfold, and yet they keep raising the toll to subsidize transit buses and ferries in direct violation of the agreement made to reduce tolls once the bridge was paid for, to what would be necessary to cover maintenance costs for the bridge itself only.

BTW: Propery taxes are also user taxes, not income taxes. Add to that direct assessment to property owners for improvements to roads and other infrastructure, as well as school, hospitals, and emergency service, that 50% of the country that doesn't pay any income taxes, and everybody that is not paying for the services they use can show a little more respect to those that do than demanding more and more and more from a system they don't contribute an equal share to.
