Hello all,

I would like my fiancee to use her existing tourist visa to visit me in the US after we receive our NOA2 (seems like forever!). I know she will be interviewed by a CBP officer at the port of entry here in Los Angeles. I am wondering if it's of any value for me to write a brief, one page letter explaining our plan for her to visit here while we wait for her embassy interview date and prepare the various packages that she will have to bring. We will both return to Kiev for the interview and wait there until her K1 is issued.

Has anyone here ever written a letter to the CBP on behalf of their visiting fiancee or fiance?

thanks

PS wasn't sure whether to post this here or in the tourist visa section but it seemed more appropriate in K1....

A letter from you does not help. She can explain the situation herself. There is a pinned thread here called "Yes, you can visit!"

ROC:

Here's the sticky topic about visiting http://www.visajourn...-you-can-visit/ Yes, she can visit.

However the letter to the CBP officer won't work. She'll need to demonstrate she has strong ties to her country and that she'll be going back .. for example: A lease, a letter from her employer stating she needs to be back to work at an specific date.

Read the posts on the link I gave you, to get a better idea of what will happen when she comes back to visit.

Agreed, a letter from you will carry little weight, her providing ties to her home country will increase her chances of a smooth entry

Good luck

base on your timeline, you in line for an approval soon base on the speed of CSC...you should be out of there within the next 4 weeks which is good  . As it relates to visiting the US citizen, you can visit but i wouldnt recommend it. The Consulate where you in Ukraine seems to deal with the process really fast, and it would be best for the Alien fiancee to be there taking care of business to speed things up. last time i checked, you can get an interview date within a week or 2 of things arriving there and be done in about 3 weeks. And most of all, he/she will risk getting denied entry @ POE which would be a waste of money
