Good morning guys, i have a question, hope somebody can answer it, when submitting your i130 application, do you need 2 copies of the marriage certificate? one in english & one in the native language?

just need one if its not in english then it needs to be translated in to english make copies your going to need them again latter for other forms.

Im asking because i was talking with a lawyer and she told me that i dont need the marriage certificate translated to send it to the uscis.

Well that is FALSE information cause on the instruction package it clearly states the following..

"Any foreign language documents must be accompanied by a full English- translation that the translator has certified has completed and corrected, by the translator's certifications that he or she is competent to translate the foreign language into English"

Now she probably meant there will be no translation required when submitting the ORIGINAL marriage cert. to the NATIONAL VISA CENTER, where from what I've heard from other member as will as the travel.state.gov website includes the following "Note: All documents not written in English or in the official language of the country in which the interview takes place MUST be accompanied by a translation in English. Translations must be certified by a competent translator and notarized. Translations submitted to the NVC will be included in the applicant's case file"

Can a copy of the traslation be sent? Or does it need to be the original with the original signature and stamp?
