Please forgive me if this is a really dim-witted query. My husband will be the main sponsor of myself and our four children but we are also being co-sponsored by a friend who lives and works in the US. When the I-864s are submitted, is the fee levied for each individual immigrant application (ie 5 fees in our case) or for each supporting I-864 submitted (ie 10 forms in our case)? This process is all hugely expensive and we will be investing a lot of our savings into it so I need to know what I am dealing with when working out our budget for this.

Thanks in advance.

Laura

It's per application, so 5 times in your case.

You have a wonderful friend to do this for you! Are you sure the kids are not elligible for US citizenship?

For London DCF, you dont have to pay a fee for the I-864.

It will be:

Fee with I-130 - $420 each. This is paid with your I-130 either by a money order or using the credit card form.

Medical £227 for each person age 15+ and £105 for age 14 and below. This is paid to Knightsbridge doctors on the way of your medical.

IV (Immigrant visa) fee is $230 each. This is payable at the embassy when you go for your interview.

Phew! Yes, he is a wonderful friend but he is actually more like family so I am sure that is why he is willing to go this extra mile for us. Of course, it is all a paper exercise since in no way are we likely to become a financial burden on him. It is just that all of our money will be asset-based since at the time of application Chris will not have started employment in the US (or may not even have secured a job).

Our children are not eligible for USC because my husband just missed the 5 year residency ruling by a couple of months. Annoying! It would have been easier and cheaper that route for sure.

Thanks for your reply.

Ah ha! Well that explains why I had two different notes on this. I must have made one jotting about it before discovering the DCF route and one note afterwards. I need to keep better notes! The cost is astronomical when it is all set out like that (especially the medicals, given we are all so used to free healthcare) but we hope it will be a worthwhile investment in our futures.

Thanks again for the clarification, Holly234!

Cheers

Laura
