Hey:)

GC holder 10 years.

passing through toronto ontario airport to US (cant change ticket now)how is us customs and immigration at that airport?

secondary inspection before, 1 time, not same airport, background, but dont know if POE updates wrong information?

example if someone lives in a different address than the one showing "somewhere",a "somewhere" showing several "arrests" when there should be less, or none,or etc ( i feel in pain, anxious, cant explain it. just of thinking if there is still wrong info on "somewhere" the POE gets info that might cause me to lose my flight, go again into secondary inspection, etc etc etc)

this trip delayed my return to US,personal stuff, details, info i´ll disclose at the poe, so i´ve been over 6 months less than a year abroad, but what´s the deal with it?????here aslo read sad stories here but not with the outcome!!!

called uscis:less than a year use your green card to get back, but here and other websites say over 6 months less than a year you need reentry, others say only over a year, blah blah blah!so hell yeah! confused stuff and i already feel going crazy(if it helps, so you give me an opinion: first time my trip is delayed or extended if u feel better saying it,this original trip was planned to be hell short )

and the last one,sorry...i get off the plane in toronto ontario...where do i go first?or what are the steps to follow?pick up luggage, customs and immigration and then check in with the conection flight out of canada to go to US and then wait? or am i getting it wrong?I will be totally lost at that airport...sights...

“...Isn't it splendid to think of all the things there are to find out about? It just makes me feel glad to be alive--it's such an interesting world. It wouldn't be half so interesting if we knew all about everything, would it? There'd be no scope for imagination then, would there?”

How much time do you have between flights? US Customs can sometimes be a little slow.

You do not need a reentry permit if you are returning less than a year out. Please see attached link.

Normally, with connecting flights, the bags are transferred for you. Or are they two separate flights? What airport are you originating from? You may go through pre-clearance before you even leave.

I went a few months ago, and I believe the order was: get off the plane, pick up luggage, go through customs, drop off luggage once you're through, then go to your gate. I don't remember at what time I had to go through security, I think it was after customs once I dropped off my luggage.

Also, there are a lot of signs in the Toronto airport telling you where to go. I got lost a few times though but there was always someone around to help me, don't be afraid to ask for help!

@Krikit, that's what I thought before I went to my flight, but I was told in Ottawa that I had to pick up my luggage in Toronto and take it myself to my connecting flight's conveyor belt thingy. It's annoying, especially if you have more than one suitcase.

Good luck :)

When are you travelling, just out of curiosity?

I thought that might have been the scenario but I've never had a connecting flight in Toronto so I wasn't sure. Thanks for clearing that up.

Yes, you're right. That's the order out of Terminal 3. You pick up a Customs form at the counter before you enter, hand it over with your passport, answer the questions, drop off your luggage, then pass through Security.

At Terminal 1 it's a bit different. You drop off your luggage, go through Security, then go through Customs.

2hrs and 30 minutes.

ok,yes i was told bout it but hell...too many contradictions,so i was confused,thank you.

For the whole itinerary these tickets were bought and booked from the original destination: to canada then to US. The flight and airline arriving at toronto´s airport and the one departing canada to go into US are different airlines.

customs? you are not talking about immigration, right?:)customs is going to have a look to my luggages.

is it POE of "immigration" what you are calling "security"?

Dont worry, you dont have to answer me,iam already confused,I think I will have to ask :)thank you both!

my flight from canada to US says : change of airlines: 2 hrs and 30 minutes... so if it doesnt say "change of planes" i suppose i should consider it a separate flight?

Security is where you go through a scanner and they scan your carry on. Customs is the POE.

So you're stop is in Canada, you're flying in from another Country? In that case I think you're International to US. Also from what Krikit said "At Terminal 1 it's a bit different. You drop off your luggage, go through Security, then go through Customs."

When are you flying?

When are you flying?

:) International to US says: "If you are connecting from flights outside of Canada to the US take the escalator up and follow the signs to Customs A, you will then go to the Customs Primary Inspection Point.

When you first enter Customs A follow the signs to US Connections for Air Canada, Air Canada Jazz, United or US Airways for US Customs pre clearance, then take the escalator up one level to the US baggage collection area. Proceed to US Customs, after clearing customs go down to the US gate area"...sounds awezome.

OK,is it me who is getting it wrong or it looks like they are wrongly talking about going throught "customs twice"...? :bonk:

1) ..."follow the signs to US Connections for Air Canada, Air Canada Jazz, United or US Airways for "US CUSTOMS PRE CLEARANCE"...(US POE to show passport,GC,etc??)

2)take the escalator up one level to the US baggage Collection Area."PROCEED TO US CUSTOMS"...(again??)

So, Now, the path:

1)drop off bags( shouldn´t it be,"pick up or retreive bags"?? the international flight arriving to CANADA (althought it is air-canada)IT IS NOT the same leaving Canada to go back to US)

2)security

3)customs

doesnt match the instructions for international to US.

i´ll have to call or write :(I was told I cant, change tickets! but i have 2 emails confirming different stuff!!!:wrong destination,sights...what a mess!! and what a headache!!!!!!So now probably if a change must be done might get a date after your trip the 14th,good luck to you!and thank you anyways.

I'm a bit confused, why do you have to change your flight date? You shouldnt be worried about what you do after you land in Canada, there will be signs and people to help you. I think I'm missing something?

You said your tickets have the wrong destination? How so?
