HI VJ,

My husband's AOS is currently pending, about a week ago we got the letter stating we will have the interview on August 10th, 2012. I have a couple of questions regarding what to take and do. Me and my husband have a 2 month old daughter, we were wondering if we can take her along to the interview? Also me and my husband don't have any joint accounts or bills due to the fact that I didn't work because of my pregnancy...and well he doesn't work here still because we have not yet received his work permit ( and we live with my parents for now, until we settle down). Will this affect us? We had money saved but it all went towards filing for the AOS and our newborn baby. Also, I haven't changed my last name after we got married because I was in bed rest on my last trimester and after my pregnancy due to the fact that I had a C-section. SO I will be going to the interview with my maiden name on all of my government issued identifications ( passport, California ID, and social security ) I hope this doesn't back fire on us. Thank you in advance for all the help.

sorry I posted too many questions at once :)

I would take the baby with you.. also, from my own experience, I think the IO already knows enough about you because they didn't separate us, didn't ask us for anything, our interview wasn't but 10 mins all together. Where as other couples that were there at the same time as us were separated because they looked "suspicious"..

Wouldn't it be better to be able to give full attention to the interview rather than the infant?

You can bring the baby If you want. But you don't have to. Lots of people don't change their names. Can you get a statement from your parents saying you live with them? You can also still get joint bank accounts even if you don't work.

Can this statement form be written by me and just signed by them or does it have to be notarized? How will we have a bank account if we don't have enough money?

Your parents can write up a simple letter and sign it stating that your family is currently living with them. You can certainly prepare the statement.

That's what we did.

Re: bank account - you don't have to have a lot of money in it. Usually $25 will open an account. Might be useful if/when you or your spouse is working and gettin paychecks.
