We picked up some Wisconsin cheese curds from the farmer's market last weekend and attempted a poutine. Our gravy needs work.

I have a stab at poutine gravy one weekend a month. I think I hit the mark last month, gonna keep that recipe. I make my own drippings, so make all from scratch. Still a bear for cheese curds, but I found 3 places near by that have them, and it's acceptable.

I can say I've only had poutine, once while in Montreal for the interview at the US Embassy....never had poutine or been to Montreal and looooooved both.

Ya, I still bug the folk in the monthly NVC thread (Canadiens, that is) to go on the poutine walking tour after the interview, for it may be the last time they get the real thing, for a longish time .

Poutine Rocks! ! !

Ya I had odd looks with washroom.....it's restroom.....well i'm be dipped in sh#$#t, ok restroom

i just tested the tap and brown toast on my wife...although i stopped with the brown toast a while back....so yup, tap means to tap on things ie finger on desk....faucet is known....brown toast = burned toast??? so no brown toast

also with the word foyer....as in the French pronunciation = foi yay....here's is foyer like sawyer.....garage i say it like formage....french again....here it;s garge G. just ends with the soft g sound. giddyap

forgot to add... i say sorry as in soar eee.....here's is saw ree... and i guess we all say oot and aboot for out and about...so i hear

Lol. Almost all of this are Aussie issues as well :P I get picked on for saying garage like that. Foyer no-one knows that the bleep I'm saying. Zed they think is a word instead of a letter... which as my old bosses surname started with a Z I had to switch to zee but that just seems silly seeing with my accent C (see) and Z (zee) sound similar enough I get questions about that so I do phonetic a LOT!

I saw soar eee as well, and garage. Apparently I pronounce progress (prog-ress) and salsa in a way that makes people question where I'm from. Not sure what I'm doing to 'mispronounce' salsa, but it makes my fiance laugh every time.

Gained a lot of weight and then decided to go Vegan (was vegetarian) because the food seems so much different here. On the upside - there are a lot more vegan options available in health stores than there are in Canada!

I sometimes say soda.

My mom says my accent is more "American".

That's all for now!

Remember that Wedding Cake is the food that makes women gain the most weight, LOL!

Good for you for trying to do something about it!

Back in My Air Force days--Pilots had to have so many flight hours each month, so sometimes the planes went up on pilot trainers---they usually got to pick the routes........Quebec was a popular route as they would touch down and have a friend meet them at the airport with curds!!!

Canadians Visiting the USA while undergoing the visa process, my free advice:

1) Always tell the TRUTH. never lie to the POE officer

2) Be confident in ur replies

3) keep ur response short and to the point, don't tell ur life story!!

4) look the POE officer in the eye when speaking to them. They are looking for people lieing and have been trained to find them!

5) Pack light! No job resumes with you

6) Bring ties to Canada (letter from employer when ur expected back at work, lease, etc etc)

7) Always be polite, being rude isn't going to get ya anywhere, and could make things worse!!

8) Have a plan in case u do get denied (be polite) It wont harm ur visa application if ur denied, that is if ur polite and didn't lie! Refer to #1
