Believe you me, same happened to me when I went for my PCC at Chandigarh PSK.

The official advised me to get spouse name endorsed first for PCC.This Spouse endorsement led to reissue of passport which ate almost 25 days...Based on my new passport I got my PCC in one day.

But again each passport office follows its own flexible set of rules...And there are many fellas here who never faced these requirements while getting PCC..

I guess it vary from state to state..Since you wrote Ahmadabad PSK you must check above link..

YEs and yes... I had posted about it before after talking to two NVC operators and was met with a bit of confusion from people here on the website. So I called nvc and asked for a supervisor. But yes SMart84 you've got to wait for case number. check out my timeline to figure out how long it will take to get case number.

Thanks! Yes, I am going to keep calling NVC once I have NOA2 hard-copy in hand. Hopefully I will have it in a day or two, because NOA2 was issued on 5/11.

When I mention consulate specific, I think they meant which consulate you would be interviewing at. Anyway If your still doubtful just give NVC a call sometimes in life you need to here it from the source.

Sure.

Thanks buddy! This link is not much of a help because it's talking about OP not able to get PCC because his passport does not have his wife's name on it and local PSK in Ahmedabad was giving him trouble to get PCC due that reason. And OP was doing immigration process for Australia so we can't compare with NVC requirements.

My original topic of discussion was to find out what actions NVC would take if beneficiary cannot submit PCC in IV package. And I think I have got the answer and should not worry until interview at Mumbai Consulate in India.

Hi Smart84,

I just want you to know that i regularly follow your replies to other VJ members, and most of the time the answer you provide is very helpful. I was just wondering i see that your case got completed in June 29, 2012, have you got the interview date yet? i only ask because the last update i see on your timeline is case completed by NVC on june 29. I was just wondering that is all, i am trying to figure out when we will get our interview date. thanks. if you choose not to reply to this, that is ok too. thanks and wish you luck in your visa journey.

i just got off the phone with nvc and they are telling me i have to wait an extra month to get an rfe so i can get my wifes pcc. they refused to allow us to bring it to the interview any advice

Aaron0991,

PCC issuance is country specific. In some part of India, PCC is only issued when you present an interview letter. Therefore, NVC allows some applicant from India to bring PCC to the interview. I noticed that your profile says Japan as country. In this case, you may also want to ask in regional forum to get country specific answer.

Ok so here's my case guys!

My husband got his PCC in Mumbai, India and his whole IV package was done and he sent it. I called NVC yesterday and she told me that his package is complete and accepted. Today, however, I got an email from NVC and they sent me this:

"______10 - PASSPORT POLICE CERTIFICATE:____________________________

Indian Police Clearance Certificates should be obtained as follows:

•All Indian IV applicants aged 16 and above, residing in India, should obtain police

certificates from the local Passport Office.

•Indian passport holders applying for visas outside India should obtain a statement from their

local embassy or consulate confirming they have no criminal record.

•Non-Indian IV applicants residing in India should obtain police certificates from the District

Police Station serving their area of residence.

•Indian police certificates are not available for foreign (non-Indian) applicants applying

outside India."

Curious as to what this meant, I just called NVC. And he told me that NVC doesn't need the Police Clearance Certificate (PCC) and that my husband would need to take the PCC with him at the time of his interview. I asked him again to make sure and that's what he said. I asked him if he would send the original back, and he said that the husband can just take a copy of the PCC with him to the interview. Is this correct? I don't know if his PCC had an expiration date on it. If so, he would need to get a new PCC before his interview? Also, he got his PCC made from the police office, not passport office. Which one is necessary? Again, he's in Mumbai. Any feedback would be appreciated.
