but if you knew you wanted your future inlaws at the wedding why did you just not get married in Jordan? and if your friends did it this way why are you blaming the government for ripping you off when it was your decision to do it this way, not theirs?

also my brother did the same with his fiancee and it take them 5.5 months.its a good deal.i guess

if you think it's a good deal then why are you complaining?

You just have to do what both of you decide to do. We did K1 but maybe it would have been better to get married so my wife could finish up her personal business then come to USA on a GC. Your choice.

In Arizona its hot hot hot.

I did the cr1 visa since we were six months shy of our 2 year Aniversery, it took us 10 months due to an rfe and me being slow and doing things last minute other wise it would of been a little faster. But in my opinion it was the better and cheaper option because all we have to do is adjust for the 2year green card to a 10year next year. And he got his card in less than a month that he was here.

K1 VISA Is for unmarried people with the intend to marry in the us. Basically the visa is given to u to enter to us n get married with in a certain time frame. So that all u get out of a K1 (until u apply for the other things u could get automaticly with a CR1)

CR1 is if u are married n ur spouse will be moving to the us permanently. Out of this u get the visa, green card n apply for social security card.

In my opinion K1 Visa is more hassle, money n headache.

The government didn't trick u. There are diffrent visas designed for different situations, u have to decide which one best fits ur situation.

and the I-130 does not give a green card right away..it give's a permanent resident first 2 years the the green card.i dont have problem with that if if we waited 10 years as long as we together.

Actually , yes the I-130 does give the green card right away. Permanent resident = green card.

You have all the priviledges once you pass point of entry and come to live with your spouse. But the actual green card comes in the mail 6 wks later. You have the ability to work (rather than waiting for the EAD form to be approved. You are also able to travel freely (rather than having to wait for the adjustment of status to be approved- as is required with the K-1).

Let's get real here. If I wanted to immigrate to Jordan...how would that take? 4 months is not a long wait. In fact, when it comes to immigration, the U.S. has the best policies in the world. We allow thousands and thousands of immigrants yearly and the 5months wait for approval is modest if you compare this to the standard approval times of other nations. We are all lucky to live in a country that welcomes immigrants. Some countries certainly do not. Good luck on your journey.

hello all,

if the K1 process from the beginning to end takes 7 to 8 months,

so how about the married ones how long will take?

It depends by cases, my husband petitioned me under CR1 visa and it took me 6 months to get my visa (March 03 NOA1 - Sept. 16 visa delivered). From our experience I-130/CR1 or IR1 is the cheapest and less hassle, when your spouse gets to US no more papers to file but only removal of conditions before 2 years expires from her GC and citizenship application in few years. I suggest, review the visa types which is available here on VJ http://www.visajourney.com/content/compare Good luck.

I-`30 gives them a greencard and ssn as

and the I-130 does not give a green card right away..

Actually , yes the I-130 does give the green card right away.

An I-130 doesn't give anybody anything; it is a petition form filed by a US Citizen or US Permanent Resident for a relative. It is the visa type itself (e.g. CR-1) that results in a green card on arrival.
