No I know it's not about the money.

they let him come here so I'm sure they're gonna let him stay, although I know it's going to be better when he actually has the card in his hands. Good luck to you guys.

So far (and I'm sure including the paperwork due in May 2007), I have filled out all of the paperwork for David and Chris both and I have never signed any of them (well, except the I-134/I-864, etc :P ).

Rebecca, I am befuddled at Wes' situation...I mean, aren't name checks done before the I-129F is approved and he obtains a visa? What could possibly be different NOW than then???? I would think the hold-up would have been at the BEGINNING of this whole fiasco, not at the TAIL end of it!!!

PJ, I know it seems weird but for K visas the serious namecheck is done at the end - not the beginning. IR1/CR1 visas have this done 'during' and not later.

Given the current political stance on national security, we're all probably lucky these visa types are still available. The Ombudsman's report references the lengthy checks as being a detriment to national security - his goal though is to speed them up.

It really makes no sense that this is allowed to go on. If someone were unsavory, the length of time they are in the country before they are found out is not good. I've always reckoned that the criminal profile of a terrorist is that they typically don't enter on family based visas - otherwise I can't imagine why the powers that be haven't eliminated the K visas altogether.

Sarah,

I filled out the various forms for my wife, including the section asking if someone other than the applicant prepared the forms.

Yodrak

This is just something I have been curious about.

When I filed the I-129F petition I never filled out the part at the end that asks if someone else prepared this for you cause I did it.

For AOS since it's for Hicham and I don't have much to do with it could I have written on the bottom that I prepared the form or is that for a lawyer? Am I included in the petition because I am his wife ?

This is probably a stupid question but I was just wondering if anyone who filled out forms for their fiance/e or wife/husband put that they filled them out.

I don't know if what I wrote even makes any sense.

K I'm done now, sowy.

Sarah

JamesMiranda,

What led you to think this? There are no qualifiers such as you mention on the forms, it's a simple and straightforward directive to identify the preparer if the applicant did not prepare the form personally.

Yodrak

I filled some of the forms out and I didn't sign it, I thought it was mostly if someone legal did it or if you didn't speak english and someone translated and filled it out for you.

Sorry to hijack  but that is what I can't understand, really...I agree that it makes no sense and is not good if an unsavory character is let into the country and THEN worry about whether they should have or not. If such a person is approved on a K, moves to the US, skips off into the unknown....then they're here and disappear to do their bidding. Great (not!) There just isn't any reason in this day and age for checks to take this long....how nervewrecking

Hope it gets straigtened out soon, what a pain. (F)

Nothing did, it was my own obviously incorrect assumption ;)
