I called the NVC and they advised me that the documentation was sent to the beneficiaries country (Brazil)on 9/20 for further processing. To date neither myself nor my fiance' has received any notification from the NVC or the consulate in Brazil.

Should I proceed and send the Package 3 documentation & what exactly are the Package 3 documentation for someone filing for a K1.

From what I have been able to gather it includes the following:

DS-230, part 1 (completed)

DS-2001 (completed)

Copy of Passport page(s) that has the individual's personal information

1 Passport picture

Is this correct? or am I missing anything.

Any help in these areas is greatly appreciated.

Clem

Rio and NVC won't send you any notice when the consulate gets the case from NVC - they get the case and send out packet 3, no notice. Call or e-mail the consulate, give them your NVC case number (starting with RDJ) and as soon as they tell you the case is there the beneficiary can send them the forms and documents you mentioned above to Rio, without having to wait for the actual packet 3 in the mail.

I only offer advice - not even legal. Just the plain and simple kind.

Hey Clem, you should also check the consulate's website for package 3 content. My fiance is in Thailand and the Bangkok embassy website shows package 3 contains considerably more than what you listed. Take a look here:

http://bangkok.usembassy.gov/services/visa...0for%20Thai.htm

I know the requirements vary by embassy, so your list just may be complete.

6/14/06 - I-129f packet ready to send

6/15/06 - Decided to delay sending and use new form when available

Many of the forms in packet 3 sent in Thailand come in packet 4 in Brazil. The link I provided above will point the OP to the website of the consulate in Rio and they'll be able to find the information directly from the source :)
