I'm living here in America. Used my K-1 Visa to get here in December. I accidently left my passport in my pants pocket yesterday. Long story short my passport went thru the washer and my visa is ruined. Is there any way to get a new copy of it? Do I still need it? What do I do?! bleh!

Unfortunately, a copy of a Passport is not the answer. There is a record of your Passport. Yes. They will charge a Fee. You need to obtain a New Passport.

Explain what happened..

Did you take copies/scans of it and the I-94?

I did something similar, sunscreen all over my passport, but the K-1 stayed kind of OK, the I-94 was wrecked (anything in pen ink was erased). My Adjustment of Status was approved yesterday despite this.

You may need to send off for a replacement I-94, I'm not sure if they give you replacement K-1s. They accepted copies of everything, although I never got a copy of my I-94, so had to pay $300 I think for a replacement I-94.

Your K1 visa expired when you entered the country in December. It is only a ONE entry visa. It was replaced by the 194 paper in your passport which gave you the 90 days to get married. By now you should have been married and filing for your AOS, which makes even the 194 irrelevant. You are fine if you have done this.

I thought the question was Replacement of a Passport.

My passport as well as my k-1 visa is ruined. My I-94 is still okay. Just the K-1 Visa is ruined.

Your OK. But get a new Passport for later. If your Married already the K-1 is Void and does not matter. You never know when you need a Passport. And avoid wearing in your Jeans. LOL

Not a Good Place for a Passport.

If you sent it already, you should be ok.

I waited, but will be applying to replace my passport when my Green Card arrives.

If you have to go for an interview, I'd suggest you take the mutilated documents along with good copies. Also your EAD/any other ID you have would be good.

Tell them at the AOS interview if you have one. Otherwise, no worries.

Go to your local post office with what is left of your old passport and apply for a new one. Some data should still be readable.

Since this passport had a K1 visa in it, it would be a foreign passport. You replace those at a Consulate or Embassy of THAT country. The US Post Office cannot assist in this matter.

Beyond the AOS I do no trecall ever needing a copy of the K-1 visa, hopefully you have a copy somewhere just in case. You will not need a copy of the I-94 again.

Your passport is another issue. USCIS doesn't care if you have a valid passport from your country or not anymore, but you will need it if you travel internationally. Contact your countries consulate in the US to see about a new one.
